Summary: Amazing!

On a whim, my wife was able to decide on what she wanted for dinner. I was so impressed, I just got in the car. Upon arrival, I remembered why we never eat in this building. Many companies have come and gone in this location, none staying long. The energy changed as we walked in the door. When we walked in, there was a unanimous welcome from the kitchen and staff. Not the typical welcome that is lifeless and void of emotion. This welcome was resounding and happy. We were a bit stunned, so it was awkward. We studied the menu, and a gentleman behind the counter offered to describe the menu for us. Of course, being a cynic, I did not feel as though that was necessary. We entertained him and let him tell us about it. This guy looked us dead in the eye and described everything on the menu as though he has been cooking this with his grandmother since he was a child. I mean, this guy was happy and excited to tell us about the food, which made choosing quite easy. We ordered our food and had a seat. The smells coming from the kitchen made our mouths water and stomachs turn somersaults. When the food was brought to our table, my mind was blown and I forgot to take pics before trying it out. The food had me speechless (which as you can tell, is a feat). Everything we had (as pictured) was nearly the best I have ever had, and I am a foodie. The staff regularly checked on us and was as more kind than any staff I have ever encountered.

Ultimately: The food was amazing, the portions made me feel weak (as I could not finish my one taco), and the atmosphere of kindness and happiness was far beyond any experience I have enjoyed. And yes, the queso gets top scores, as well. It was so smooth and flavorful. Oh, and leftovers were pretty great.

Looking at these pictures and writing this review = I am closing my laptop and going back for another treat. I went back to the counter and dropped a $20 tip on a $35 tab. Totally worth it.

The food was excellent! I has the steak boss breakfast taco, my parents had the Royale and El Camino. We all enjoyed our food. The staff were super friendly and helpful in navigating the menu. I can’t wait to go back for another steak boss ASAP!

Picked up tacos. Drive through was pretty quick. Ordered #1 Bean Daddy and #2 Steak Boss. Tacos are heavy and tasted delicious. The steak was well seasoned and the queso was yummy. Tortillas did not fall apart while eating. Salsa verde was not spicy.

Loved everything – as the novel below clearly outlines
Breakfast tacos all day
The puffy tacos are DELICIOUS!! We got two with chicken, one with guisada – both were great. I could eat those puffy corn tortillas alone and be happy.
A streetwise with brisket – brisket was my personal favorite.
A lowrider with steak – this was my husbands favorite
A lowrider with chicken – this was our daughter’s favorite.
We then had both desserts – the homemade sweet cream dip was heavenly, and we were house divided on the churros and raspberry chimichangas haha
Either way – we were very happy all around and don’t feel like you could go wrong with any choice.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back! Portions were generous and we definitely over ordered. lol

I know the kinks are still getting worked out so I’ll re-review in a few months. My 4 friends and I were the only people there Tuesday night and my order was the first placed. The tortilla was served icy cold like it had been sitting out somewhere with an AC blowing on it for a long time. That really turned me off to the whole taco and it was just ok at best. My friends sampled most of the menu between all of us and no one said they loved anything or was over the top. In fact the consensus was that no one wanted to come back for our weekly outing of Taco Tuesday until this place got alcohol. The employees were cordial and checked on us after we were sitting there for about an hour hanging out conversating. (That was a really long time to check on your only guests though.) I look forward to coming back and trying out the breakfast taco menu solo. Good luck to you guys! I know it’s hard at first being brand new with only students as your employees.

i visited via drive through and first noticed the extremely limited variety of tacos. (*be advised: if you’re looking for authentic staples like barbacoa, machaca, nopalitos etc, this isn’t the place for you… the fare is extremely basic)

flour tortillas were light and fluffy (which isn’t necessarily a good thing for wet or juicy tacos) and tasty. i ordered a carne guisada and a chorizo and egg taco, accompanied by an order of queso loco. the carne guisada was tasty and piping hot, but the tortilla, being so light and fluffy, disintegrated in the foil because they were so light and fluffy. and THAT was the highlight…

the chorizo in chorizo and egg taco and that topped my wish loco was AWFUL! folks that grew up with homemade chorizo and/or South Texas produced “chorizo de san miguel,” know what the good stuff tastes like.

the chorizo mojo uses? ain’t it…

the flavor was so off, i only had a bite of the taco before i had to chuck it. the horrendous flavor profile of the chorizo completely ruined the queso as well! one thing to note, even if the queso wouldn’t have been ruined by the chorizo, the texture was off. it was a super velvety white queso (think texture of a really thick ricos nacho cheese) and there wasn’t anything spectacular about it.

regardless, this was a truly disappointing experience. do yourself a favor and go further north or into Bryan for your taco fix.

The queso loco and royale both had just enough spice.

There were a lot different options on the menu, so I hope they can work on streamlining it to improve the service speed.
