Small place but fun for friends . Appetizers was very good . Kimchi gyoza spicy and delicious. Chicken wings are crispy. The curry vegetable is so good no tofu add bok choy . I got the undo veggie broth but veggie style. I asked for lite on the noodles. The desserts is a must they are all good.

I had an amazing experience at Modu Ramen! The pork gyoza were perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, packed with flavor that paired beautifully with the dipping sauce. I ordered the spicy shoyu ramen, and it was absolutely incredible—the broth had the perfect balance of richness, heat, and depth, while the noodles were cooked just right. Every bite was comforting yet bold. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the overall vibe of the restaurant made it even better. Easily one of the best ramen spots in Jacksonville—I’ll definitely be back!

Tucked away in the Baymeadows area, Modu is the kind of low-profile spot that rewards those who seek it out. This unassuming ramen house quietly serves what may be the best ramen in Jacksonville.

The difference is immediately apparent in the noodles. Made fresh in-house, they have the perfect chew and texture that you simply can’t get from pre-packaged varieties. They hold up beautifully in the broth without becoming soggy.

The broths are rich and complex, clearly simmered with care and attention to detail. Each component — from the perfectly jammy soft-boiled eggs to the crispy tempura chicken and tender chashu — shows the kitchen’s commitment to quality. Even the toppings like corn, bamboo shoots, and scallions are fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

Don’t sleep on the appetizers. The gyoza are delicate with a great crispy-bottomed sear, and the karaage (Japanese fried chicken) is addictively crunchy with juicy meat inside. The selection rounds out a satisfying meal.

Modu proves that the best restaurants don’t always need flashy locations or heavy marketing. For authentic, carefully crafted ramen that rivals what you’d find in larger cities, this is Jacksonville’s answer. A true hidden gem worth seeking out.

Beautiful restaurant, food was amazing, we both got the spicy tonkotsu and the spicy was just perfect enough to blend with the meal. We also got the pork gyozas and they were amazing as well. Everything freshly made. 6 gyozas came with but we couldn’t help ourselves before the photo!

This is one of the best ramen shops in Jax. I’ve been to Japan many times and always struggle to find an authentic ramen flavor in Jax (not fusion, not Americanized ramen, just the authentic flavor); there are only a few here and Modu is one of them. I recommended it to a friend and he also loved it. If you wanna get into real ramen, come here.

We got the fried chicken appetizer and we liked it was very crunchy . The pork was a little too fatty for my taste but I liked the broth . The spicy level was pretty mild for level
Hot overall enjoyed the meal

Modu Ramen is absolutely amazing! I ordered the Miso Ramen, and it was fantastic—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The presentation was beautiful, and you could tell everything was made with care. The chef even came by our table personally to check on us, which made the experience feel extra special. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

The vegetable gyoza was pretty good but very tiny. Wouldn’t say worth $9.
My son had the chicken katsu don and he enjoyed it very much.
I had the vegetable ramen. The noodles and broth were fantastic! I would, however, like to see MORE vegetables for the price!! I asked to add bokchoy because what veggies were included was so little. I received one (1) single baby bokchoy. The veggies were good but for the price (almost $19) it seriously needs MORE veggies please!
My son also had the strawberry bingsu and he loved it
I would recommend using a different tea brand. Whatever brand they use leaves a bad aftertaste. We had to ask for a canned tea instead.
The filter they have for the water is top notch! When a good filtered water is used, EVERYTHING tastes better! The broth, the rice, even just plane iced water was delicious! (except for the tea. The water didn’t help that at all).

The staff is very kind and attentive!
When we arrived, the door was open to allow the fresh air in, which was so nice.. until someone outside started smoking. The staff noticed and immediately closed the door.
A bit later, family came in to order to-go I guess, but they didn’t keep control of their kids, who were making a LOT of noise, disturbing the rest of the customers. Thankfully one of the staff addressed the situation and the mother finally came to get her rowdy kids.

This is hands down the best ramen I’ve had in the states. After living in Japan for 2 years I’m often disappointed by ramen locally. I have finally found my new go to spot. I had the Beef Bulgogi Ramen and I couldn’t help myself but to completely drain my bowl it was so good. I love the vibe inside, feels like a traditional noodle shop. Will 1000% return.

Very nice experience at Modu. Came as an alternative to Domu, as they were not open at lunch. Got KFC wings (which were very good), tonkatsu ramen and tsukamen. If you want spicy, be sure to emphasize when you order. Their “spicy” seems mild at best.
