We visited Modern Stone Age Kitchen during our stay at Brampton 1860. Everything is made from scratch using ancestral techniques like fermentation and quality ingredients like organic flour. The staff here is friendly and helpful.

The hand-rolled sourdough pretzels are absolutely delicious. Get there early because they sell out fast! We also loved browsing their selection of fresh-baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods like fermented veggies and house-made liverwurst.

Seating fills up quickly inside, but the courtyard is a lovely spot when the weather’s nice.

Traversed three bridges to visit Modern Stone Age Kitchen for the first time from Ellicott City! As someone who is a sourdough and fermentation hobbyist, I was excited to try their food and interested in their approach to nutrition and health.

We ordered several of their offerings and everything was delicious! The most surprising item was their fermented ketchup — as someone who considers regular ketchup to be a bottom-tier condiment, theirs is INCREDIBLY good — crazy good — and all of their other condiments that we tried were fantastic too (the ranch is herby, the mayo is silky, the horseradish is creamy with a slight punch.) Our next favorite were their chicken wings. I’ve tried chicken wings from an enumerable amount of places and had some good ones, but none have ever matched exactly what I wanted, until these. They are prepared and seasoned absolutely perfectly and I regret not getting another order to take home. We also tried their caesar salad which is fresh with a pleasing lemony brightness. The pizzas are tasty with a chewy, pillowy crust and the best best best part is because they’re sourdough, you don’t feel bogged down after eating like you typically do from regular pizzas. We also picked up some items from their prepared to-go section that were great (bagels, fermented veggie cream cheese, fermented pimento cheese, and sourdough crostini.) Really, everything was outstanding and I could go on and on, but in short, MSAK was a real treat and we will absolutely visit again and spread the word. Now, maybe more than ever, this type of care and intentional preparation of food is of the utmost importance for so many reasons and we’re happy to support and thankful for the nourishment.

Our first time in Chestertown and we came here for Friday night pizza takeout. Very tasty pizzas with a rotating speciality pizza every week. We also had the fries and the wings, as well as some of the pimento cheese dip to go. Very unique concept with all of the fermented and paleo type ingredients. There js definitely nothing from Sysco here! Highly recommend. We will be back for lunch soon!

We love the whole scene at MSAK. We have come a few times and never had a bad experience. The food is excellent the service is friendly and informed and the setting is very clean and friendly.

The menu changes some over time so come and see what is in the kitchen today. I highly recommend the pizza, the pretzels and mustard is amazing. I love their breakfast choices- everything is delicious and made fresh every day.

Parking is free and fairly easy to find. Take a short walk and enjoy the day.

We traveled from Ohio to stay for several days over Valentine’s Day at the Modern Stone Age Sanctuary and eat all of our meals at the Modern Stone Age Kitchen. It was nothing less than fabulous! All the employees treated us like we were the number one customer. Bill and Christina Schindler and family are such amazing people. We are so grateful and blessed to be able to share in their passion of making the most nourishing foods possible. We cannot wait to return and hope to make it an annual Valentines Day trip!

It’s a great bakery. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is really tasty. And they have some cool seating – both indoor and outdoor.

The only down side is that it’s a bit cramped. And the place is popping, so you definitely feel the squeeze.
