Came here with friends last night and had a reservation. We were seated on what looks like an addition and was up against the wall with a large bench, which worked out well for us. Tables had a mix of tea light candles as well as some led tea lights but it was pretty well lit and didn’t need those table lights but does add a bit to the ambiance.

We ordered several appetizers and small dishes that I missed taking photos of but came out pretty quick. We had ceviche (which I didn’t have so not sure on quality but the table seemed to like it), Mac n cheese, yucca fries, Tequenos, pulpo, shrimp and tuna tartare. Mac n cheese was a standout and better than I expected, really creamy but not overly oily/fatty with a nice mouth feel. The octopus was nice and tender but nothing to special about it–could have used a nice sauce to pair with it and the tartare was just okay, not as fresh as I’d hoped. The shrimp was also a hit and the quinoa coating they put on it gave a nice textural contrast to the dish.

For entrees, I had the pollo, which was nice and tender and it came with fries and a salad. The salad didn’t quite seem to fit well with the dish. The greens were a bit bitter and honestly a bit soggy. The seafood paella was really good, seasoned well and the seafood was cooked to perfection.

Overall an enjoyable meal but a bit on the pricey side. It’s a nice date night or special occasion restaurant but a bit steep for a regular meal out.

The food here is incredible. The entrees are very generously portioned and best enjoyed family-style. The prices make more sense when you see how much food you get! We most recently got the Pescado a la Macho and the Pollo a la Brasa. The seafood soup has some of the most delicious broth I’ve ever tasted! The seafood and especially the fish was all cooked perfectly. It’s incredibly rich so enjoy it with the coconut rice and order to share. My husband loved the combination of the roasted chicken, fresh salad, and fries. Everything was delicious! We’ll be back and can’t wait to try more!

Might not be coming here for brunch again … the food was fine, but nothing special to justify the price. The menu looks pretty good and I would love to come back to try their burgers. Lovely restaurant, the vibes are great and the server came to check on me throughout the meal. Looking forward to trying this spot out for a different meal next time.

Mochica is an exceptional Peruvian gem in the heart of San Francisco, offering a dining experience that feels both warm and refined. The food is truly outstanding—each dish bursts with authentic flavors, from perfectly seasoned ceviche to tender lomo saltado cooked with precision. The freshness of the ingredients and the thoughtful presentation show real culinary craftsmanship.
The service is equally impressive. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and quick to make great recommendations. You can feel genuine hospitality from the moment you walk in until the last bite of dessert.
In terms of convenience, access and parking are relatively easy compared to many other popular city spots. There’s nearby street parking and several paid lots just a short walk away, making the visit stress-free even during busy hours.
Overall, Mochica is a perfect blend of delicious food, gracious service, and hassle-free access—an ideal spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.

I went with a friend for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly service. The food was all delicious though theirs de Gallina was too dry for my taste.

This Peruvian restaurant was such a delightful find! The seafood paella was packed with fresh, flavorful seafood and perfectly seasoned rice, while the seafood bolognese was rich, hearty, and absolutely delicious. The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome from start to finish. A wonderful dining experience that we can’t wait to enjoy again!

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. My only gripes were the price, the portions, and the slight heat. The service here is spectacular. Our server saw that we were going to eat family style so they got extra serving spoons for us and even got an extra mimosa flavor for my MIL. The location itself has a very vibrant atmosphere. I can tell you though, for brunch, don’t get the sandwiches. They’re fine but nothing special and the fries are very commonplace. The sandwich was good but a bit greasy. The main courses is where your attention should be. The chicken and waffles is very cinnamon forward. The chicken is white meat and juicy but the pieces are small and comes with little else. The omelette and the vegan bread that comes with it is spectacular. Everything on the plate was enjoyable. I think our favorite was the chilaquiles. It was so flavorful and well-balanced, the portion was appropriate, and the eggs were runny.

Not the cheapest Peruvian place, by a mile… but the food and drinks were very fresh and not a disappointment, at all. My Peruvian wife prefers the more traditional ceviches, but I really enjoyed the “fusion” ceviche “Tasting”… especially the coconut milk one that had a bit of spicy bite to it! We went classic with the main course… the Lomo Saltado… it had the most perfectly grilled beef, with plenty of sauce to mix with the rice and French fried potatoes. I had the Peruvian Pilsen a Pilsner beer from Peru, and she had a traditional Pisco Sour. We finished off with a tasty “Quinoa” Flan for dessert… and washed it down with the a Peruvian Inca Cola (which tastes kind of like Bazooka bubble gum). 2 main course entrees were not needed to fill us up… and though we often like to take some home, we left nothing on those plates! The wait staff were also, Top Notch! Highly recommend this Off the a Beaten Track spot!

Mochica is such a treat — if you haven’t been, you’re seriously missing out. I skipped the usual lomo saltado this time and tried a few other dishes that totally delivered.

The seafood paella was packed with flavor — saffron rice cooked perfectly and loaded with shrimp, mussels, and calamari. You can tell they don’t cut corners on ingredients. The seared tuna was a standout too — super fresh and beautifully plated, with just the right amount of seasoning and a nice little kick from the sauce.

I also tried the grilled salmon, which was perfectly cooked — crisp skin, tender inside, and paired with a light, zesty salad that balanced it out really well.

And don’t sleep on the burger! It sounds basic, but it’s far from it. Juicy, flavorful, and stacked high — kind of a hidden gem on the menu if you’re not in the mood for seafood or traditional Peruvian.

Service was great — friendly, attentive, and they really know the menu. The vibe is warm and relaxed, and it’s a great spot whether you’re on a date or just grabbing dinner with friends.

Definitely coming back — still so much on the menu I want to try
