We were in Orlando for the weekend again and I wanted to try a Hawaiian Diner I heard about. Moa Kai Diner is a pretty nice restaurant that offers all kinds of Hawaiian comfort food, desserts, and a bunch of tropical drinks. We wanted to sample a couple of pupus and a plate lunch. We went with some crispy gau gee (chicken and shrimp) and pork hash for pupus and a mixed plate with Korean chicken, shoyu chicken, with rice and mac salad. I haven’t had crispy gau gee in a long time and their version was big, crispy and tasty….brought back memories from home. The pork hash was huge, biggest I’ve ever seen and it was equally delicious. The plate lunch was pretty big, the Korean chicken was very good, the shoyu chicken was just ok. I’m used to having it on the bone and marinated for a long time. Their version was sliced up and tasted good but not marinated like I’m used to. For dessert we got Malasadas, they were good, a little heavier than the standard which is Leonards of course but it definitely hit the spot. The prices here are very reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of food. The restaurant is very cozy and nice. The staff was very professional, friendly, and they were hustling all night long. We definitely recommend Moa Kai if you want to try Hawaiian comfort food or miss Hawaii!

Amazing Hawaiian diner! Not only was the atmosphere wonderful but so was the food! I’m vegetarian and the Korean fried tofu was perfect and more than enough for a portion size I got the Mac salad and the garlic noodles for a side but next time I’m going to try the rice cause my boyfriend said it was so good. I’m so excited to have more for lunch tomorrow. My boyfriend got the spam musubi and the moco loco and he said it was delicious and also had leftovers! Service was great and people were super kind! Will be coming back!

For local Hawaii people- this place is dabomb.com ! I moved to Florida from Kauai over a year ago and of course always on the lookout for legit local kine grindz. I will say walking into this place made me feel like I was home. Some items prepared a little different- but once you take a bite the flavors flash you right back home. I opened the menu and instantly started tearing because all you see is items you would find on the menu back in the islands. The pork hash- SO ONO!! Mix plate- every combo cannot go wrong! And the poke- out of all the poke I tried here in Florida this is DA ONE!
Last week we found out bad news and I needed to get admitted to the hospital, so before we went in my husband brought me to Moa Kai for comfort food and I bawled the entire time. Rudy was super accommodating and kind! The playlist was fire. It was just what I needed to face the rough journey ahead. This place is special! If you are homesick it’s worth the trip you won’t regret it!

The Korean chicken was lightly coated but crunchy on the outside and inside was still good and juicy. The fish was also lightly coated and had a delicious white topping. I absolutely liked the spicy margarita. The ube pie was soft and delicious. The doughnuts were my least favorite but only because it had to much sugar coating on the outside. The staff is friendly and very prompt with the order. The decor is super clean and aesthetically pleasing. Definitely recommend this place.

Food: The food was great! My husband and I loved the garlic spicy shrimp (it wasn’t too spicy for me). The Korean chicken seemed popular from hearing others order it but I wasn’t a fan due to the sauce but that’s me and my husband. We would totally go back for the garlic shrimp. Next time, I want to try their shrimp po boy sandwich. The musubi was so yummy that I want to make my own but not the fried version (I’m not that good of a cook). The CHAR SIU MANAPUA reminds me of a bun Bao (Vietnamese) and it was very fluffy and nice. The portion sizes are great for the price!
Service: it was okay service. We felt very rushed. It was our first time so we needed a moment and yes, I looked at the menu prior to going. I think that place is a grab and go for us. We don’t really order cocktails and such.
Ambiance: it’s a small area with some bar seating. It can be busy so you might have to wait for a big group. I don’t recommend going if you are 4+ as most tables sit 2 to 4. You can do the bar if you have a bigger group.

Had lunch for the first time at Moa Kai with my husband. We’re both not from the area, we stayed not far from this restaurant.
We missed Hawaiian food, were on the island last September. So we checked this place out to see how they are. The place is cute and a bit small.
My husband ordered spicy poke and I tried their Grilled TriTip Kabobs.
Also my husband tried Lele Lychee (it was different, interesting drink but also pretty good).
All the food was great.
The Mac salad is a little bit different than what I had in the island, missing something to make it perfect and exactly the same but it was still pretty good.

I’d been craving some Hawaiian comfort food since my recent trip to Honolulu, and decided to check this place out for lunch.
I ordered their loco moco with two premium sides of Spam fried rice & beef teriyaki, which were both an additional $2. With tips, the total came out to about $23.
The loco moco & Spam fried rice were made really well individually. It hit the spot for Hawaiian comfort food that I’d been searching for. But the amount of gravy they put in just overpowered the other elements of the dish, making the overall palette just salty. The beef teriyaki wasn’t bad but just underwhelming: a thin, charred slice that is definitely a one-and-done for me. If I had to do it all again, I would probably order their loco moco with plain white rice, just because their loco moco didn’t need any additional parts to make it good.
The diner is cozy with an eclectic style & bright atmosphere. The Hawaiian music playing in the background immediately took me back to the local grinds in HI. The staff were welcoming & gave fast service.
Overall, I had a good experience, and would be willing to try the rest of their menu.

Everything was amazing. We stopped by casually looking for a new place to try. And we loved this little place. It looks like a family owned place as there were only 3 people for taking orders, bussing and also making drinks. It’s an open kitchen. I loved my spicy poke with tuna, it was fresh, fatty, real! While my husband who lived in Hawaii, loved his Locomoco! We also had shrimp and pork appetizer which got there after our mains at it needed more time. We will definitely come back as we loved it! People were nice and friendly!

I had a lovely lunch at Moa Kai today from beginning to end. The service was kind, fast, and very welcoming. I ordered the Korean chicken plate and the fried Spam musubi—both were delicious and an excellent value for the portion sizes. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Just had lunch here and I’m super happy we stopped by! We came in not long after they opened, and it definitely started getting busy once the lunch rush hit.
I got the pick two plate with kalua pork and spicy ahi — both were so good. My sisters ordered the Hawaiian breakfast (served all day), and they liked it, but mentioned they wished the spam was sliced thinner so it could get crispier.
Portions were solid for the price — honestly a really good deal!!!
We also tried the ube pie at the end. It didn’t have a super strong ube flavor, but we still liked it. The texture reminded us of a Filipino dessert (maja blanca) kind of like a soft, gelatin-style dessert.
The diner is really cute — smaller but has bar seating and a counter seating by the kitchen.
Everyone was super friendly, and overall I had zero complaints. Definitely wanna come back and try more of the menu!
