Great food and great service. Some days there could be a decent wait. The tables are spaced, which I like, but limits capacity. It makes a more pleasurable meal. All meals are prepared not only for taste, but appearance as well.

MJ’s is one of the only places my husband and I intentionally return to in the Houghton Lake area. The food is reasonably priced and the French fries make every visit worth it.
Hearty portions, hardworking staff, nice family atmosphere and lots of natural light. Worth a visit for the best diner-type food around.

We have been wanting to try this place but the last couple times we been in or passing by they’ve been packed but today we finally got a seat.
I had the black and blue burger.
$13.99
The wife had a breakfast sandwich plate with O’Brien style redskin potatoes which I must say were amazing with sausage gravy all part of one meal.
$13.99 + .99 up charge for the potatoes VERY reasonable
The only reason I gave them a 4 on food is because though it was a very tasty burger I don’t feel the value was there for a $14 dollar burger that came with only a pickle spear.
We did see other patrons order the chicken sandwiches and they were BEASTS so we’re definitely going in again to try one of those.
Over all, give this place a try we think you’ll find something you’ll love, we certainly did.

This food was outstanding. This is definitely in my top 5 breakfast restaurants ever. Food was fresh cooked exactly how I ordered. Its flavor was top notch. The wait staff were extremely friendly and was very helpful/friendly. Each person in our group raved about how good there food was. I will be bringing my family here to eat next time through this area.

My son and I came 45 minutes before close, and I was afraid they wouldn’t seat us, no problem, there was one table left open and they sat us there. There are only about 15-18 tables, but coming at a non-peak time helped. Our server was super friendly and came back and checked on us frequently. I ordered the handmade cheese sticks and I tell you, they are incredible! You only get 4, so if there are more than 4 in your party, you’ll need two orders. They are amazing! I got the grilled chicken fiesta salad and it was huge! Also, grilled chicken throughout, not just sitting on top, which I thought was awesome. There were layers to the salad, which was nice. Good flavor and enormous. I saw other peoples food at other tables and it looked like nice size portions as well. I also ordered the breakfast potatoes O’Brien and I didn’t care for those. My son got a hamburger with bacon, and other meats on it, and he couldn’t finish it because it was so big! lol he got fries with it, and they tasted like they had a Parmesan seasoning on them. I enjoyed the pretty colorful mural outside as well. We’ll be back for sure!

Perfect breakfast, and worth the wait! This is a small space, and the food and service are awesome, so it seems like they might always have a wait. It went pretty quickly for us, and the food was just what we were looking for late on a Sunday morning.
We had a country breakfast, veggie omelet, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Eggs were cooked perfectly, both over easy and in the omelet (I’m not a fan of burnt or rubbery over-cooked eggs in an omelet). Hash browns were crispy and fresh, and the rye toast was thick, and super-tasty like homemade or bakery style.
Biscuits were served open-faced and grilled, so they were warm, buttery, and toasty which was perfect for the traditional sausage gravy. Wonderful comfort food experience, and we highly recommend!!!
