Reviews
If you’re looking for unforgettable Japanese cuisine in McLean, Miyagi is the place to go. This restaurant consistently delivers some of the most thoughtfully prepared, beautifully balanced dishes I’ve had anywhere in the area. Every plate is crafted with care, and the flavors—paired with their excellent selection of spirits—are truly something special. It’s the kind of food that keeps you thinking about it long after you leave.
A quick note on the service: the husband-and-wife team who run the front of house are extremely professional and focused. Yes, they may come across as serious at first, but I’ve learned that this is simply their way of ensuring everything is done right. They are attentive, efficient, and committed to giving diners the best possible experience. The wife in particular runs the floor with precision—some may misread her seriousness as grumpiness, but she is simply dedicated to doing her job well.
If you appreciate exceptional food and authentic, no-nonsense service, you will love Miyagi. This is a place that values quality above all else, and it shows in every bite. Treat your taste buds to something extraordinary—you won’t be disappointed.
However, during our visit, the waiters seemed to be watching us closely , and when we called the older waiter to place our order, he threw the pencil at us, instructing us to write down what we needed. When he brought our orders, I mentioned that I wanted my soda without ice, but he not only removed the ice but also replaced the glass with a smaller one.
Towards the end of our experience, a similar issue occurred with an older lady. She added extra charges, hid the total price, and insisted on payment via Apple Pay. After some negotiation, we clarified the total amount and gave her a donation instead of the suggested tip.
I have not been here for 15 years‼️
Came back to find the same great quality food, great service!!!!
I’ve literally was thinking about their inside-out California rolls!!!
But the worst part came at the end. They added an extra $10 to our total without showing us the receipt. Our bill should have been $60 before tip, yet the lady insisted we pay $70 plus $14 in tips. I asked to see the receipt multiple times, and she refused to bring it.
She even said that we must pay 20% tip, “even if the service is bad.” I’ve never seen anything like that. Tips are optional, especially when the service is this poor.
This was honestly one of my worst restaurant experiences, and I will never be coming back. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.
