The only thing I’ll add is there are too many people going in there who are first time shoppers. I feel like everyone who comes in to order food needs to be treated as if they’ve never been there before and instructed and how to order. We ordered a turkey plate and a stockpile plate The food was great although I had some questions about my purchase we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. If you’re going through lamesa and you would like to experience some really good barbecue, served up fast and hot . Stop by and give them a try.

Driving home from Albuquerque and needed some gas and food. We stopped at the Valero that had both a Wendy’s and Mitch’s TX BBQ. Instead of a burger, I decided to get a sliced brisket meal that includes sandwich, TX chips and one side. Since I got 2 meals, I tried the green chili mac n’ cheese and fried okra. Both were good sides, but this sandwich needed the extra condiments that are available; including jalapenos, onions, pickles and bbq sauce (hot or sweet). The hot wasn’t that hot, but these made the sandwich not as dry. For a gas station BBQ joint, it sure beats fast food choices!

Decided to give the new place a shot. Came in at 3pm and they did not have any turkey. Decided to get 1/4 pound of sliced brisket. $10 for 1/4 pound seemed a little high but hey it may be good. When I opened my container and found that I had 2 big end pieces of just fat… and it was cold and dry. That did it for me. Atleast use the fat and mix it up in the chopped brisket. Hopefully when they have turkey again maybe that will redeem themselves. But what do you really expect for a bbq place inside a gas station.

Food was good. Service was horrible, we stood there waiting for around 10 mins and no one said hi the whole time. Not very friendly. They have tables in the side and it was clean.

Stood in front of the counter waiting to place our order for over 5 minutes without ever even being acknowledged by the two guys behind the counter. They completely ignored us while talking about when they were getting off work and prepping other orders and just standing there. Not even a greeting or an “I’ll be right with you.”

We stopped at the Toot n Totem and found this BBQ, not expecting it to be good, but were pleasantly surprised how lean the turkey was and how moist it was. For my husbands BBQ sliced brisket the counter server trimmed the fat then weighed it. My husband liked his very much. We are native Texans and have eaten a lot of BBQ and this was very good. A little pricey but big portions. I like a bit more vinegar taste in my coleslaw but their creamy one was ok. I just don’t like a lot of mayo.

Mitch’s Texas Style Barbecue in Lamesa is where the brisket reigns supreme—succulent, tender and the BBQ sauce enhanced the flavor. Save room for the banana pudding: velvety, layered with vanilla wafers, and so close to my mom’s recipe it sparks sweet nostalgia. But what truly elevates Mitch’s is its great food along with its staff. Anna and the crew radiate warmth, greeting me by name and memorizing my order. Their genuine hospitality helped turn me into regular patron. Keep up the great service.

Should not be associated with Texas style. BBQ should be only associated with gas station dry food
It’s totally my fault. We’re going to a gas station but I googled the Texas style BBQ and didn’t look at the destination so I’ve been looking forward to it for the last 200 mi since I crossed in from Roswell New Mexico into Texas. But oh well. Live and learn

Food is really good, a bit pricey though, great service from their employees. Only reason for 4 stars is the pricing but overall this place is great! Hot links are really spicy
