This barbecue place was in a gas station. Despite that it was superb. The people were super nice, and the brisket was even better than that.
I was traveling through Plainview on my way from Houston to Colorado. I just gambled on this BBQ place- and Mitches is a winner.

I ordered the Mitch at $25.97 and I’m full. I haven’t even finished the plate let alone even open the side or pudding yet. Good portions. Good overall. Favorite is the ribs so far.
Update: I kept going because it was good and now my stomach hurts from being stuffed but the mashed potatoes are so good but I can’t keep going.

Amarillo is a 1000 times better. This is basically a copy of something that they want to charge the same for. The service sucks.. No hospitality at all. the workers just want a paycheck, that’s what it seems like. They were good when they first opened up. Looks like they have new workers and seem like they have never made food. Before that lady chop me beef so small it looks like ground beef, and she left all the nasty fat on it.

potato salad spot on homemade chips are good briskets a little dry but the sauce saves the sandwich. All the competitors are closed, Mitch’s is the only game in town.
Prices are reasonable.

I’m seeing complaints about portion sizes and stale chips. Where the heck are y’all actually eating, because it not here
I got the stockpile which has brisket, chips, beans and cheese. My brisket was moist and had a great flavor, and the portion was large as you’ll see in the photo.
To address the “stale chips” complaint, THEYRE KETTLE STYLE CHIPS. Those are always a bit on the tough side. It’s the whole point of them.
The service was great. My food was prepped and ready to go just as I finished looking around and grabbing a few items.
My only complaint is that the restaurant and store use separate register systems. If you buy food from Mitch’s and want to buy some chips and a drink you have to ring those separate at the next register. It’s only a minor convenience, so I’m not taking a star off for that.

Absolutely terrible was basically served undercooked ribs worse bbq I ever had. My family had a bbq restaurant here in texas over 30 years stop giving texas bbq a bad name plus food safety serving undercooked pork

Adult prices for toddler portions. Very dry and underwhelming. They show drop the “Texas style” from the description because Texas has good BBQ, this place doesn’t come near. Super polite folks though.

First time here, ordered a half rack of ribs. Ribs were hard and dry barely edible. It was definitely leftovers from the day before, I was there around 1pm therefore had it been cooked that day it wouldve been somewhat fresh. Very disappointed won’t be back. Most pitmasters just won’t serve a customer poor quality like that they usually take pride in their food.

Ordered 2 baked potatoes, onions were not listed on the item and when asked I said no and got onions anyway. The baked potato comes with potato chips on top and they were stale. The beans, potato, and okra were cold. I don’t recommend coming here. Food was bad, signs need work as they’re hard to read. This really sucks as the store smelled amazing.
