City Mom In The Burbs
Mitch’s Sushi in Honolulu delivers the kind of experience that keeps you planning your next visit before you’ve even left the parking lot. Nestled near the airport, it feels like a true hidden gem: unassuming from the outside, unforgettable once you sit down. The fish is astonishingly fresh, with pristine cuts that let the natural sweetness and texture of the seafood shine through, and the rice is seasoned with the kind of quiet confidence you only find at serious sushi bars. Every plate that comes out looks like it was composed for a photo, clean and all about the fish, but the vibe stays relaxed and welcoming rather than stuffy.
What really sets Mitch’s apart is the balance between fine-dining quality and that casual, local, almost “secret spot” energy. It’s the kind of place where you can land at HNL, swing by for sashimi that tastes like it just left the ocean, and feel like a regular by the end of the meal. Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable; the team is happy to guide you toward the day’s best cuts or omakase-style selections, and you can taste the pride they take in what they serve. If you’re a sushi-obsessed traveler or a local looking for that “destination” meal without going into Waikīkī, Mitch’s Sushi near the Honolulu airport deserves a permanent spot on your must‑eat list. Five stars, without hesitation.

An amazing place with some top of the class quality fish being served. Loved each piece of sushi which was the chef’s choice. The fish quality was one the most superior I have had in a while! It feels like a totally hole in the wall kind of place in the industrial area of Honolulu. But it is most definitely a hidden gem. One more thing that was a stand-out was service with a smile. They really take care of you and check on you regularly to ensure your experience is enhanced. I would most definitely recommend a visit to this gem if one finds themselves in Honolulu! I was very glad for this to be my last gastronomic experience before catching my flight back to NYC!

The sushi is very fresh and I had the best salmon nigiri ever here.. so buttery and tasty. It melts in your mouth. Casual atmosphere that you would never know what it is from the outside. The inside is a lot bigger than you imagine once you look at the outside facade. They reuse plastic chopsticks yay…thank you for caring for the environment. Free Street parking. The food came out really fast. Service is friendly and nice.

This has to be the freshest sushi I have had on the island. Probably the freshest in all of USA.

Only drawback was the miso soup was not served hot. We got there at 4pm so we had the best service since we were the only table.

The Salmon Kama and salmon belly was really good. The best is our sushi platters. Thank you Mitch’s for an awesome food!

Mitch’s is a little hidden gem in the airport industrial area of Oahu. They always have fresh fish and can accommodate a good size group if needed. The best part is they allow BYOB. If you’re looking for a great place to eat sushi you should try this place. Just know you will be payya premium but also getting great quality seafood.

Hands down a delicious destination! Leave the tourists to Waikīkī and go local. Go in the know. After being away for years this place is still delicious though remodeled comfortably. I wasn’t sure what to order so I said “chefs choice”. Superb!

May2025 Authentic and fresh sushi and Japanese cuisine near the airport.

The place has a fishmonger feel with a relaxed Japanese pub style.

Food servings are ample and the variety offered shows that the ingredients are fresh.

Service is standard and friendly

Ideal for all types of diners but more for small groups
