Best BBQ I have ever had. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich plain. No sauce, no slaw, no mayo. Needed none of that. The meat stood alone and had a great flavor. Great customer service. And the man I’m assuming was the owner was very nice and extremely friendly. Good customer service is a rarity these days. I don’t live in the Shoals area and this was my first time to stop in, it won’t be my last. Glad I drove on past that other bbq place just down the street!

So I’ll admit it, I’m a barbecue snob. I’ve competed in multiple large bbq cookoffs over several years AND placed highly. I’ve cooked for years for family and friends to rave reviews from them. The problem with all that is I struggle to find commercial barbecue that satisfies me. But guess what? This place, this food, these people….
It’s the bomb! The reason they only got 5 stars is because that’s all I had to choose from. Don’t get it twisted, this is that! What you want, they have.

There’s a fancy barbecue place just down the street if you want fancy, but if you want friendly and fantastic smoked meat, Mitchell’s is it! Everything is pretty much as you might expect except for the recommended pork ribeye sandwich. One of the best pieces of barbecue smoked meat I have ever eaten in my life. And you might say I’ve eaten a little bit… Highly recommend.

Wow! I live in Birmingham and this was my first trip to Mitchells but won’t be my last. Brisket was amazing! I am in Texas 3-4 times a year and do my best to get in to all their famous locations. Mitchell’s is the only brisket I have ever had outside of Texas worthy to still be called brisket! Just awesome!

The best BBQ I’ve ate in the Shoals. They had sold out of ribs. We had the brisket, pulled pork, chicken and a burger. Everything was great. The white beans were awesome! Mac and Cheese on point. Def check them out. I’ll will not buy BBQ anywhere else from now on.

A tasty bbq place. It’s definitely small, with a very small parking lot, and while there is some seating inside, it definitely lends itself to more of a takeout place. Well worth it though

Ate in at Mitchell’s with my kids on Saturday when passing through, and it was so good (pork ribeye sandwich y’all). I bought a pound of brisket to go, and it traveled in the cooler for three days on a road trip through MS and back home to Tennessee. I just ate an absolute amazing brisket sandwich for lunch on Wednesday with some Mitchell’s hot bbq sauce. Texas ain’t got nothing on Mitchell’s. Such good people too. Gonna plan a trip just to come eat again.

I hate that it has taken me so long to stop in. The dadgum brisket is FIRE! Smoked and seasoned to perfection with just the right fat/lean ratio. I should have bought more.

We got some funky smelling bbq from this place—the whole family was pretty much grossed out by the odor. It was a total loss. Had to tell the owner about it. He did not handle the situation well— refusing to acknowledge the obvious and insisting that he doesn’t “sell bad meat!” We will stay away from this place from now on.

If you want authentic BBQ without all the “frills” of a chain, this is the place. Chicken was on point. Got the banana pudding to go, and it was awesome as well. Highly recommend this place.
