This was some of the best food I have ever had. Truly lit up a rainy day. We had the veggie sambusa, the Ethio Veggie Platter, and veggie sushi. Everything was delicious and fresh. The sambusas were our favorite! Even the chai was creamy and delicious. The staff and owner were very kind and gracious. Everyone should eat here!

Great gem. Super tasty club sandwich and the peanut espresso drink was amazing. I had no idea what to expect with that but wasnt expecting it to taste so good. Service was excellent as well and the owner was super sweet–she served up complimentary sushi rolls to try and they were delicious. Nice, comfortable seating too with a relaxed ambiance. Can’t wait to come back!

I hosted my birthday party at Mita Ethio-Japanese Cafe and I could not have been more pleased with the experience! As anyone can tell you the food is amazing, delicious, high-quality ingredients, and made with LOVE. What made this a great place for an event is that the mix of Ethiopian food and Japanese food was perfect for hosting many people because we were able to get a wide range of items off the menu: I got a large Sakura Platter; 4 paninis that were split into 4 bites; and the “Ingera Sushi” rolls of spicy lentils, yellow peas, and collard greens! Everyone ate to their hearts content for less than $10 per person.

What really impressed me was how we were able to use the space to make it feel like I was hosting folx in my Home. We put the tables together to make 1 long table. There were little nooks for people who wanted to have more intimate conversations. We used the market space for more seating and art activities. It was perfect! Would highly recommend you stop by or give them a call to host your next event here!

I was just telling a friend about this place today and realized that I forgot to write a review! GUYS IT’S SO GOOD! I don’t go out to eat much but I made a vow to eat for quality of food when I do. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious. The peanut roasted coffee is the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had in my life. I usually drink mine black but I was curious—oh my goodness if you are not allergic to peanuts you have to have some ❤️. The owners are a married couple and they are very kind, and the restaurant reflects that kindness in its warmth. ☺️ Please be sure not to miss this gem!

This is the most unique blend of cuisines in the city! Both the Ethiopian and Japanese dishes here are amazing. Really kind and accommodating owners too. Make sure to try the Tokyo sushi and an Ethiopian food platter if you visit for the best of both worlds. Will definitely be back.

Amazing service and delicious food!!!! Feels very homey and welcoming. I got the veggie injera platter and Tokyo Papa sushi combo with extra ginger and shared with my friend. We also had the Ethiopian tea and it was lovely. The Mita Market also has a large selection of items.

It’s so easy to give this place 5 stars!! The service and staff running this place are the sweetest, most helpful, and accommodating ever <3 the veggie platter is so good and the nigiri, sushi, and onigiri (by request) is SOOOO good. They also have a seasonal ethiopian peanut infused hot chocolate that needs to be tried!! Highly recommend them and have returned twice within the last week

First Ethiopian restaurant I’ve tried in DC and it was so good. We went around breakfast time, so I ordered the Ful and it was so phenomenal. That with the Ethiopian tea was a great start to the day. My friend ordered the peanut infused tea (best for the cold weather) and the turkey panini (and of course the lentil sambusas were also a great experience). 10/10 would recommend
