We decided on a night out and found this spot on OpenTable. Based on the reviews, we had high hopes, and it did not disappoint! Daniel, our server, was amazing, very attentive and ‘Johnny-on-the-spot.’ We really appreciated his service, and honestly, all of the employees were great. The ambiance and food were excellent. I also had the best Old Fashioned of the year so far. Highly recommend!

I have been living in Sherman Oaks for 6 years and never been to Mistral. Me and my daughter finally made it last night. What a treat. Incredible food, Daniel and Alejandro provided best customer service experience – rare these days. So happy that this is my neighborhood restaurant. This will become a frequent spot for me. So so sad about this place. We LOVED it so much but the Valentine’s Day fixed menu was not good. The food was no good and normally this restaurant is our favorite for the food. I had to send my man dish back because the branzino was so terrible. We had booked Mistral for Valentine’s Day because online it showed they were doing regular menus for the holiday, but we were surprised by the fixed menu when we got there so we had no choice but to stay. Not sure what happened but this was one of our favorite restaurants, it seems maybe the chef was different tonight or perhaps they are trying something new. We heard several couples next to us also complaining about the menu and the food. We did hear that they are under new ownership. I still want this to be one of my favorite spots so please go back to whatever you used to do ❤️

The service is so great here! The waiters are always quick to top off your drink & check in often. The food is pretty good, however, nothing that totally “wows” me.

Had a great experience with a big group there last Saturday! Staff was extremely nice and friendly from the waiter to the bus boys. Food was very good and I appreciate them not being stingy with the bread and butter. I recommend the mushroom papardelle!

Sad night for my Wife & I. We have been coming to Mistral for 15 years, & every for Valentines Day. Longtime owner Henry sold Mistrals & the new owners egos already getting in the way. It started with my reservations they called my cell# day before to confirm but asked for credit card # they never did before but ok, no big deal 2 hours later Mistrals calls me again to confirm I was coming in I said someone already called me already, I’m trying to prove my point. got to restaurants 8 waiters we knew for 15 years quit. Tonight fixed menu never been fixed menu ever before on Valentines day. I literally have ordered the free range chicken for 15 years straight Its that good!!! Tonight there was a different version of the chicken the general manager came by our table asked how things were I told him why fixed menu, We are mixing things up & doing things different, I want to previse before he came by a couple sat down next to us & I can here him say to his wife Its a fixed menu tonight they literally got up & left, I told the general manager while he came by Its not just my wife & I complaining we heard other customers talking & our own waiter told us they are leaving because of Ego & put there own stamp on this great restaurant institution. If you know you know what I’m saying Oh Ps. the original Chef is leaving what does that tell you. I will miss Mistrals new ownerships does not get it!!!!

Grade 95: Mistral should mean dependable in French, This restaurant has been excellent since we first started going here more than 10 years ago. The John Dory came as a huge portion and it was prepared so well that I enjoyed they morsel. While I don’t like Escargot, this one I ate 2 pieces because it looked so good and the taste didn’t disappoint. Desserts, While the Bread Pudding was downright the winner, the Creme Brullee was a close second. We also had the Steak Frites, Med-Rare, amazing. No wonder we keep coming back.

Our favorite French restaurant! The managers and staff are top notch and know how to serve at a perfect pace and style. They skillfully flow around the restaurant ensuring every guest is taken care of- which makes it a fantastic experience overall. You can’t go wrong with their snails, French onion soup and fish!

Tonight was my first time dining in but it won’t be my last. I’m a big French Bistro fan and have been to most in town and would consider this one of the better ones. In the valley my favorite two are here and Petit Trois a few blocks away. The inside is well done and cozy, but not too crowded. Service was a bit slow tonight, but the meal was still very good overall.
We started off with the Steak Tartare and it was great. A healthy sized portion with tons of flavor, and the toasted bread with it was very nice. Next we ordered the Tomato, Cucumber, & Sweet Onions and we really loved this dish. The tomatoes are always great in California and the lemon dressing was the perfect choice. For my entree I chose the John Dory, which was panko crusted and not a usual choice for me, but I did like it on this dish. It was another healthy sized portion, of fish this time, so overall I enjoyed how shareable and large each dish was.
We had an event after dinner so we passed on the chocolate soufflé but I plan to order that next time. Overall it was a really delicious meal and I plan to return in the near future.
