It’s not a quiet place, that’s for sure.
We got the Queso Fundido and Coconut Rice to start. The queso was good but the peanut was weird. The Coconut Rice was good- very creamy.
And then we got the Hard Style Tacos and the QUESABIRRIA Tacos. The Hard Style Tacos were great. The Birria tacos were just meh.
They add a 20% service charge to all orders. This isn’t a tip. IMO, they should inflate the cost of everything 20% and “remove” the service charge.
I probably won’t return.
Food was delicious! Started off with the Chips & Dips—we got all three sauces, I enjoyed the salsa roja and chipotle best. Tacos were AMAZING—the Birria (comes with 2) was filled with tender smoked short rib and the dipping sauce gave it an added flavor. The Mojo was very flavorful, more on the salty side but was great for our preference. They serve the two different tacos (for two different people) on the same tray, which isn’t really ideal if you want your own eating space/plate.
Cocktails were great—we enjoyed the Mojito and Mango Passion Margaritas. I was a bit disappointed they didn’t have any frozen drinks at the time. Service was good too! Overall, had a great experience.
It’s hard to portion out tacos, and it’s messy because you have to grab everything from one plate with tongs. Family style style tacos is just not that workable, and the novelty leads to a subpar experience. A
I was seated immediately but I had to wait about 10 minutes for anyone to come by. My server was polite and helpful, but barely came to my table to check on me. Service was fairly slow despite not appearing too busy. I must have waited an additional 10 minutes for my check at the end. Looking over for for my server, I noticed they were busy chatting with other wait staff.
Disappointing because the food was excellent. Another member of the staff came by during my meal to ask how the food was, maybe the chef? I’m not sure, they didn’t say or introduce themself. But they were polite and I responded kindly. Again the food is simply amazing.
Beware this place charges 20% service fee (which is counted not as a tip) regardless of what is ordered. They do make this clear on their menu, but it’s worth noting in case anyone isn’t aware. This quickly adds to a fairly large bill. After tip and service fee, 3 tacos and a non-alcoholic drink were almost 40 dollars!
My complaints are primarily slow service, high service fee, and 0 taps at the bar. The service fee would make sense if the service were great, but that isn’t the case here.
Tacos came out together and the cauliflower was touching the shrimp, which I commented. Then the server responded with a laugh, at least it’s not next to the pork. Then after multiple times of pushing she finally agreed to replate. It was very unprofessional and handled terribly.
There was also an huge horsefly circling where we sat, when we mentioned it to her she laughed and said “good luck”. The rest of the dining hall was empty… she could have offered to reseat us.
Other than service. The tacos were great! Though the highlight were the tortillas!
