Right when you walk thru the door the smells awaken you. Everything is fresh and prepared FAST and with a passion by each employee. As I was ordering there was an announcement that there was a group of veterans in the building and one was turning 101 soon! First class atmosphere, food, employees, and dining area! As I sat at a table by myself a gentleman sat down and we chatted as fellow veterans. I really wish I could give the food more than 5 stars. This is a MUST if you are in the area, they have locations all over Florida and in a few other states too! I will be headed back this weekend for Round 2!

Outstanding! Simply outstanding! Cyndi Holcombe, Manager from Town ‘N Country brought in a fabulous lunch for the DEXimaging Team at our St. Petersburg branch yesterday and it was exactly how BBQ should be. We had pulled pork, pulled chicken, baked beans, their FAMOUS mac ‘n cheese (nobody on the Team could guess the cheese combo that Mission uses to craft this delicacy), rolls, CORN BREAD and their famous cookies and brownies. EVERYONE loved the spread. And this wasn’t just lunch because Cyndi took the time to share with us the origin story of Mission BBQ and their connection to our Active Duty Military and our Veterans. Little known fact about Mission BBQ, every day at noon Mission BBQ restaurants and Mission sites not open to the public (including sites which handle the administration and food prep, meat smokers, etc) stands and plays the National Anthem as a tribute to the brave heros who kept and continue to keep our Country safe and free. I can’t stress enough that this is a 5-Star operation from the quality of the homemade food, their catering (our luncheon was catered), hospitality, their dedication to our Veterans and Active Military as well as their dedication to the community. Ive drove by here for 5 years been meaning to come here for a while finally came with my friends and MY GOD JAW DROPPED so good filling mac and cheese 10/10 AND THE BRISKET AND PULLED CHICKEN and the apple cobbler insane i cant even express how much love this food was made with and the manager carl! Was so great explaining everything and humor was top tier will be returning!

Mission BBQ is one of our favorite barbecue joints. My husband is a Navy veteran and the respect they show to veterans is immeasurable. We visited on Armed Forces Day as they offer veterans a free sandwich. My husband’s not one to pass up a great pulled pork sandwich from Mission! I must say my lean brisket sandwich was one of the BEST I have ever had. Well done Team Mission BBQ on Waters Avenue in Tampa, Florida.

So what can I say about Mission BBQ? For my first visit, it was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment my friend and I walked in, we were greeted by Melissa at the counter, and let me tell you, that country twang in her voice had me ready to order half the menu. If hospitality had a sound, it would be hers.
Melissa walked us through the menu like a seasoned barbecue tour guide, breaking down the portion sizes for the one, two, and three meat platters with the kind of patience you just do not see everywhere. After we placed our order, we moved down the counter and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Bill. Super personable, easy to talk to, and come to find out, a fellow Buckeye. O H! It is always a good day when you find family away from home.
Between Melissa’s warmth and Bill’s welcoming energy, I felt right at home. Bill has clearly been in business for years, and it shows not just in how he runs the place, but in how his team reflects that same kindness and professionalism. The atmosphere was inviting, the restaurant was spotless, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to be there.
Now let me add this. I am a serious banana pudding fan. My mother has owned a bakery in Columbus, Ohio for 32 years, so desserts are practically part of my DNA. I mentioned this to Bill while we were chatting and waiting for our food. I did not even order dessert. Next thing I know, I reach for my tray and there it is, a dish of banana pudding. Bill smiles and says, “it is your first time, you deserve a treat”. That right there sealed the deal.
My friend and I enjoyed our meal out on the patio, and just when we thought the service could not get any better, Bill came outside to check on us. Then Melissa followed up too. That kind of attentiveness is rare and truly appreciated.
All in all, amazing food, incredible service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back before you even leave. You have a customer and a friend in me, Bill. This is officially my Mission BBQ.

We at MVI facility services at the Tampa Rental Car Center was catered with Jen Helmick and Darla Aquino, both ladies were awesome. Quality of food was great, everyone couldn’t get enough. The commitment of these two ladies to serve us was astronomical. Thanks again for the teamwork of these two to make our meals out of this world. Looking forward to the next meal.

Always feel right at home here. The atmosphere is nostalgic, the service is always fantastic, and the BBQ is just amazing. I have been here a bunch and never once left disappointed. As is the Mission way apparently, because the other locations we’ve visited were identical in experience. I couldn’t recommend a single dish because every single menu item is absolutely Fanta… yes I’ve eaten every single menu item over about 2 dozen visits. These days is so pleasing to be taken care of by a staff that acts as though they realize how expensive it can be to dine out, and serves you accordingly. I’m always anxious for my next visit to Mission!

Revision/update: No restaurant fires on all cylinders, everyday. The below review reflects a single visit. I had dined with MB previously at other locations, and will dine with MB at this and other locations in the future. I simply caught the staff on an off day. I was contacted by a manager who spoke with me about the missed opportunities and deficiencies. I was not asked to amend my review. However, a follow-up call deserves to have the service rating improved, which I have done.
Noisy, even for a fast casual concept. As a veteran I appreciate the business being supportive of veteran causes and their patriotism. My food this day was luke-warm. Sauces were okay. Table and floors were sticky. To rate the service is really to only rate the cashier as no manager was doing table visits, and you return to the counter yourself to collect your food. That is bare minimum “service”.

We ate here for lunch and were amazed. The staff is SUPER friendly, the food was incredible. Best brisket I’ve ever had. The sandwiches were amazing.
