I swear only Iowa has diners like this. You know the kind where you walk in and feel like you just stepped into someone’s home. It’s grandmas old table and chairs, family pictures on the wall, bowls and rolling pins on a bakers shelf in the corner and oldies playing in the kitchen with someone singing along as she cooks. This is clearly family run. We got there within an hour of them closing and our waitress was “ducking out” because she had a hair appointment but it’s ok because “mom would run the food”. No big deal. BTW-they aren’t joking about what time they take their last orders and I understand why. It did take some time for our food to come. It was just mom/grandma aka the best home cook making the food. There is no prep line or sous chef here. You legit get homemade, from scratch straight from the kitchen food. Just like mom makes. Or like moms used to make. So be patient. Good food made with love will take longer than you might want it to but let me tell you. It was worth it.

A cozy diner with genuine staff, good food, and a wide selection of high quality fresh baked goods. I can highly recommend almost everything on the menu here. Staff is courteous, food is prepared quickly, and the prices are very reasonable. Miss K herself is a fountain of wisdom and local landmarks, parks, and history.
Stop in on a slow day, have a cup of coffee and some breakfast, chat with the staff and the locals. You’ll meet some of the friendliest faces in Mount Pleasant Iowa!

Fantastic breakfast/lunch diner. Everything homemade, and delicious. The staff are delightful and the atmosphere is cozy. Will be back. Oh, don’t sleep on the stuffed biscuits and gravy! It’s incredibly delicious!

This is a small place you can miss, it’s on the corner across the street from us cellular, the place has plenty of seating and warm and welcoming people to great you, the food is 100 times better than the restaurants around here and they deserve more people visiting.

The food, the atmosphere, and the staff here are amazing! I drive over an hour to eat here because it’s just about perfect. Make sure you check out the baked goods. They are incredible! (I usually take BOXES home!)
