TLDR: Hygiene concerns, bad service, won’t come again
‼️⭕️‼️⭕️‼️
I brought important business clients here because they love K-BBQ. I had taken them to a great spot in Duluth previously, but their hotel was closer to this location and I remembered this place being being decent a few years ago. That was a mistake, and it likely cost me the deal tbh .
We were the only table (7 of us) in the restaurant on a Tuesday night, and they still managed to get everything wrong which was the most impressive part of the dinner .
The only employee manning the floor was the host/waitress and she came to grill our meats. she was unkempt and was wearing a hoodie and Crocs. (Kbbq spots usually wear a black apron). Before setting up our table, she was touching her face and pimples , then immediately went to handling our plates and food. While grilling our meats, her hoodie repeatedly brushed close to the grill and our meat.
The busser was equally concerning. She was playing and twirling with her pigtails and then wiped down drinking cups with a towel while using her bare hands to handle and rewrap utensils for new place settings . There was no hand washing in between.
On top of that, our host/waitress spent more time on her phone than paying attention to the grill. We had to flip our own meat to keep it from burning and never got a refill on our water. At a K-BBQ restaurant, that’s literally the core of the experience and it was completely neglected.
Also mad at the fact that they made an extra 20% of tip off of us because we were a large party.
Between the visible hygiene issues and the total lack of attention to the food, the entire table lost confidence in what we were being served. ☠️☠️☠️This place has declined dramatically from what it used to be.
Our server was new so we don’t blame her. She should’ve still been under training, yet management had the restaurant severely understaffed, so she was running around managing multiple tables inadequately. Also what happened to the delicious kimchi fried rice they used to whip up with the leftovers? Used to love this place, but too many other better options in the area to give this one a shot again.
The place is tidy and the staff was professional. The food arrived at a timely manner with staff asking frequently how we were doing and if we needed any more meat. I ordered the Dinner All You Can Eat. The meat was tasty though there aren’t a lot of sides. It has a time limit of two hours. We usually order two meats at a time and back to back.
The restroom is to the back left and it is spacious with two stalls. It has a modern decor.
