Quaint and vibrant atmosphere that closely resembles tiny, historic venues on the chitlin circuit. We enjoyed a fabulous meal when we got the lamb chop combo. Ample servings. Spiced/seasoned just right. Banana pudding was truly outstanding and satisfying for the sweet tooth. Quality cocktails helped seal the deal.
We later ordered wings for pickup. They were 2 hours late. Have no idea what happened. But Miss Carter’s definitely needs to address such a serious delay in service.

I decided to try Miss Carters Place after watching a few videos on TikTok and Instagram. The FOOD was delicious!! I ordered the Fried Whiting with a side of Mac n Cheese and Yams. The fish was fried to perfection. My friend ordered Steak, Mac n Cheese, Yams and Cornbread.
ATMOSPHERE: The location is small and seating is limited. I recommend making a reservation as we did. There were plenty of people who came in and could not be seated. The decor is nice.
SERVICE: Sunday afternoon reservation, we walked in and informed the server of our reservation, she said she didn’t know anything about reservations and seated us a “reserved table”. When ordering the cornbread the server stated that she would let us know if it was available, well our food came and we asked about the cornbread again and she said oh yeah I’ll get it….took and additional 10 minutes. It was a Sunday afternoon and only the server was in the front of the house, so I’ll give her some grace.
I would return when visiting Baltimore again, maybe order ahead and take to go!

I absolutely love the food and drinks, the place is small in the inside so seating is limited. The vibe inside is chill, but when others are coming in to pick up their take out its no where really for them to wait, so if you are dining in, it feels like people are standing on your back, but the food is definitely cooked to order, the cuisine is top 10 and the servers are cool. I would definitely recommend and go back.

Visited Miss Carters Place for the first time with my wife and son. You can sear yourself, when they aren’t busy. The place was smaller than I expected. No big deal. I ordered the fish and shrimp wrap with fries. I also had yams, collard greens, and potato salad as sides. My wife had stuffed lamb chops with greens and yams and our son had lamb chops with Mac and cheese and fries. My fish and shrimp was fried, so the wrap probably would have been better if they were grilled. I don’t think there were many shrimp in the wrap either. The lamb chops were really small for the price, but were very well prepared. My wife and son enjoyed them. Wish they were bigger. All in all, the service was above average and we’ll be going back. I’m hoping I can have the fish and shrimp grilled next time.

The food was delicious here. I would definitely come back. Nick the bartender and server did great job. Everything was pretty chill. I would come back, only black and soul spot downtown.

Came here for a date night and had a really good experience overall.
The location is downtown Baltimore on a gritty city block, so it’s helpful to know that going in if you’re not used to an urban setting. Once inside, though, the atmosphere completely changes. The interior is stylish, cozy, and romantic, with a DJ, a relaxed grown crowd, and hookah available at the table, which really adds to the lounge vibe.
Food-wise, we ordered the stuffed chicken breast, mac and cheese, greens, yams, salmon, and lump crab meat. Overall, the flavors were good. The greens, yams, salmon, and lump crab stood out the most. The stuffed chicken breast was flavorful, though the bottom was a bit overcooked, and the mac and cheese could’ve been creamier — still enjoyable, just not perfect.
Nick was our waiter and he was awesome — friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the start.
This isn’t a chain restaurant or a tourist spot. It’s a local place with personality, good music, and a lounge-style atmosphere. We’d come back.

We needed somewhere to eat before we attended a play. After the TikTok videos enticed my girls they chose this place. I’m very skeptical about soul food and tiktok suggestions. Mind you We drove an hour plus from Gaithersburg just to get in the restaurant and the young lady behind the bar said they weren’t seating any guests because they had a party coming in at 6pm. We arrived at 510pm. After leaving we found a near by ethiopian restaurant which turned out to be great all around. After returning to our car and driving past the restaurant at 649pm it was still empty no party. We will not be returning. Hope you all have a better experience.

Peace and blessings!
Stepping into this establishment was like walking into a vibe. The lower light atmosphere set the tone for an intimate and relaxing experience, perfect for a date night or just unwinding with good company. The ambiance felt warm, welcoming, and intentional—truly a space where culture meets comfort.
Now, the food? Absolutely worth talking about! Every bite was seasoned to perfection, with flavors that told a story of love and care in the kitchen. It’s the kind of meal that reminds you of Sunday dinners, but elevated to a whole new level.
The service was top-tier. The staff was attentive, kind, and made you feel like family. Although there was a bit of a wait, it only built up the anticipation, and let me tell you, the food did not disappoint. Patience was rewarded with every bite.
If you’re looking for a place that checks all the boxes—great food, soulful atmosphere, and excellent service—this is it. Support Black businesses and treat yourself to this gem. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

My husband and I went here on a date night after seeing this TikTok raving about the place so we were really excited, however, we left extremely disappointed. Ill start by saying the vibe was great, the place is really cute though it is small. Service wasn’t the greatest unfortunately, they were nice but it was sooooo slow and they dont really come back to check on you. I think honestly this is better as a take out spot and not eat in. We waited about an hour for the food, we ordered an appetizer (mozzarella sticks)that came out after our main course. I ordered a medium NY strip steak and had to send it back because it was very well done and tbh I dont even think the cut was a NY strip, but I could be wrong ♀️. We were give plastic utensils that i had to carefully use to cut through my tough steak. They forgot my rice and when I did get it, it tasted like the bottom of the pan rice thats a little hard and soft. I ordered the Cornbread and was excited to try it but it just wasnt what i was expecting and didnt meet my expectations. I say the best thing I ate was the Yams, I love me a good candied yam. Overall I give it 2 stars, we wont be going back. The couple next to us asked if it was worth the wait, this was their first time visiting too and they were approaching the 1 hour mark as well, ill tell yall like I told them no its not. However, try it for yourself, maybe this was an off night and youll have a different experience.

In my Ving Rhames voice from BabyBoy: “Naw baby he (they) need to hear this “. The Whiting A+++ was the best my wife (NYC) has ever had (FL,DC,NY,TX,GA) the collard greens were good and Mac cheese held solid A-. I had the Honey Jerk Lamb chops not as beef as I would like but seasoned tastefully with the right heat solid A-. The rice was great and the sweet potatoes were on the candied sweet side B+, so no dessert needed . We will order again. Overall this was 5stars especially looking for a Papi’s Cuisine replacement (closed). Well done Miss Carter!!!
