The Kerala Crab Sukka was a highlight, perfectly spiced with a coastal punch you rarely find in Jersey. The Litti Chokha brought real Bihari flavors, rustic and smoky. And the Kasundi Salmon Tikka had a mustard kick that cut through beautifully. Even the chaat felt different — lighter, more layered than the usual heavy-handed versions. Had a chance to meet Chef Buch, got to learn about his focus on regional dishes and royal kitchen recipes that you won’t find at most Indian restaurants. There’s a refinement to the cooking without losing the soul of the food.
If you care about what goes into your plate and want Indian food that actually tastes like someone cooked it with intention, Mishta delivers!!!!
Chef Paarthic was very nice and hunkering, spend time with us about his journey to become Chef and why it inspire him to made everything fresh . #foodielife #vegetarian #indiancuisine #foodblogger
Here are the items we tried and enjoyed all:
Chandni chowk ki tikki chaat, salmon tikka, paneer ke sule, shaadiwala kaju khoya matter, dal makhani, butter chicken, garlic naan, lacha paratha.
I booked this restaurant two days in advance and clearly mentioned it was for a birthday celebration. Despite it being a Saturday at 7:00 PM—early dinner time—most menu items were unavailable. Shockingly, not a single dessert was available. The wide variety of desserts on their menu was the main reason I chose this restaurant, so this was extremely disappointing.
The food itself was bland, overly salty, and honestly worse than many other Indian restaurants. Since it was a birthday celebration, I chose not to complain at the table. When I mentioned that I was willing to wait for dessert, the server said it might take about 30 minutes to prepare one sweet. I agreed, but instead of following up, he immediately returned with the check, which felt very unprofessional.
If a restaurant is out of so many items by 7:00 PM, even with advance reservations, it suggests the menu is misleading and not realistically supported. The only item that was decent was the naan—everything else was disappointing.
We knew it was going to be a pre-fix menu. But how do you have such a restrictive menu. Only 2 options for the main course – a paneer dish and chicken.. And only 1 option for the dessert which was a chocolate cake – seriously why would I want this at an Indian restaurant for a dessert. And for drinks all you had was water, mango lassi and some other lassi. No other drinks available. Ridiculous.
I noticed that some people have complained about missing items or limited menu options. However, farm-to-table restaurants come with their own pros and cons—you just have to decide beforehand whether you value quality or quantity. For me, the quality absolutely made it worth it!
Each dish felt unique yet rooted in tradition, offering a perfect balance of creativity and authenticity. The vibrant flavors and the attention to detail in presentation made the meal memorable. This is not your typical Indian restaurant—it’s a culinary journey that takes familiar classics and reimagines them with seasonal, local produce.
I highly recommend Mishta Indian Restaurant to anyone looking for a dining experience that’s both unique and genuinely authentic. If you want to taste India through the lens of farm-fresh ingredients, this is the place to go!
I rarely write reviews, but Mistha Restaurant absolutely deserves the spotlight. From the moment you step in, you’re welcomed with warmth and an aroma that promises something special and it delivers. The real star of the show is the chef. You can taste the passion and precision in every dish. Whether it’s the creamy butter chicken, the perfectly spiced biryani, or the melt-in-your-mouth naan, every bite feels like a celebration of Indian cuisine done right.
What sets Mistha apart is their clear commitment to quality, everything feels fresh, vibrant, and straight from farm to kitchen. The ingredients speak for themselves, and the chef turns them into magic. I’ve eaten at some of the top Indian restaurants in NYC, but nothing compares to the flavors coming out of Mistha’s kitchen.
If you’re anywhere near Bridgewater area, this place is a must-visit. Mistha isn’t just the best Indian restaurant in New Jersey—it might just be the best I’ve had, period.
