Solid place to get relatively cheap Chinese food and dumplings in Sunnyvale. They have an extensive menu, so even if you’re not into dumplings, you can still find other stuff to eat. They also gave complimentary edamame, which was a nice surprise.

Service was good. You order through a QR code, and the food came out pretty quickly. Dishes were served one at a time, which made the meal feel well-paced.

The inside is modern and warm. It looks newly renovated. I like the gold accents on the chopsticks and chairs—it makes the restaurant feel like a casual but slightly-elevated restaurant .

Parking was fine. We had no trouble finding parking, just parked in the lot outside.

If you’re craving something spicy and satisfying, the dry pot here hits the spot. Tons of options, whether you’re into meat, veggies, or just loading up on tofu and noodles. Definitely recommend!

Tried the tomato broth too. The flavors were a bit on the mild side, but luckily, they’ve got a whole sauce table where you can customize it to your heart’s content. A little extra garlic and chili oil, and you’re good to go.

Overall, solid spot for malatang, especially if you like to tweak your flavors. Just be warned once you go spicy dry pot, it’s hard to go back.

Variety of food selection and delicious broth/flavor taste. There is also self service dipping sauce section. Nice place to try out if you like spicy food. Overall a little pricy though, $19.99/lbs.

Went for MiPot’s 20% off grand opening deal.

Food was good overall, except don’t get the wintermelon slices – mine came undercooked and kinda crispy (like an apple???). Everything else was cooked properly though.

But I really liked the soup base and that they had things like lotus sprouts plus some other items that were kinda unique.

The service was great, and the entire place was also pretty clean.

I feel like this place’s medium spice runs a little spicier than average.

I love hotpot! But I love the ability to see the food options before ordering and also not sharing a pot with friends/acquaintances…sorry…not sorry, so MiPot was the perfect mix of both! There were so many different veg, meatball, meat options etc. I loved the tomato broth, but if you like spicy they have a traditional bone broth or even a numbing spice one. High recommend this for hotpot lovers!

This customizable Malatang restaurant is fantastic! They offer six different broth options, each with its own unique flavor, from rich and spicy to mild and savory. The ingredients are always fresh, with a wide variety of vegetables, meats, and seafood to choose from. The flavors are well-balanced, and you can adjust the spice level to your liking. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable dining experience. On top of that, the service is excellent—staff are friendly and attentive. If you’re a Malatang lover, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Randomly walked by this place and the host outside was like “have you tried before? Try it!”

That was enough convincing for me. It was a great decision! I’ve never been to a place like this before so the people working there really helped us out on how to order.

It’s basically like one of those self serve froyo places where you pay by the weight except it’s not froyo but delicious varieties of meats, veggies and noodles. The sauce bar was also really nice

I didn’t know exactly how much to order but it turned out that a $35 bowl was enough for a light meal for our family of 4! It’s an incredible value considering that an “all you can eat” hot pot place is like $35+ per person. Plus the lack of waiting is huge – we’ll definitely come back.

I came here not knowing what to expect for dry hot pot, turned out to be an amazing experience. It’s a buffet style bar with different vegetables, meats, and toppings. After all is picked you pay by the lb and pick which style you want them to cook it for you. I had the spicy dry hot pot and it was delicious. I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be coming back.

Stumbled upon this place during my Sunnyvale lunch crunch time last Wednesday. As someone who’s burned out on tech campus cafeterias, here’s my real-deal experience:

First Impressions:

The broth aroma hit me before I opened the door – like walking into my Shanghai auntie’s kitchen. Counter service was quick despite the noon rush, though I wish they had clearer signage for first-timers.

What Won Me Over:

The chicken broth actually tastes homemade, not like salty MSG soup base

Unexpected gem: their enoki mushrooms stayed crisp, not soggy like other spots

Watched staff refill vegetable bins twice during my 30min lunch – freshness check passed
Left without that heavy sodium bloat (huge plus for afternoon meetings)

My Go-To Combo :
Thin-sliced beef + tofu puffs + baby bok choy in original broth. Added their “level 2” spice – just enough kick without napalm-level regret. Pro tip: Let the tofu soak up broth for 2 mins – flavor bombs!

The Real Test:
Brought my ABC colleague who usually shuns “weird textures”. He cleaned his bowl while muttering “Damn, that duck blood tofu thing is legit.”

Verdict:
Not life-changing, but exactly what I needed – comforting without being greasy, fast without feeling assembly-lined. Already bookmarked in my “Reliable Lunch” mental map.

Ambiance: On the smaller side, well lit, clean and self order with QR code.

Juicy Pan Fried Pork Bun: One of the highest quality ones I’ve tried, the breading is very nice although it’s a bit thick around the bottom and does slightly overpower the taste of the meat.

Shrimp and Pork Soup Dumpling: Highly recommend if you enjoy XLB, the skin did not rip or stick to the bottom and the inside was juicy and flavorful.

Homemade Chicken Dumpling: This was mediocre, the skin outside was solid and didn’t rip but the inside was pretty bland even adding soy sauce.

Chicken Vegetable Stir Fry with Noodle: Flavor-wise it was delicious, but in terms of texture the noodles were very thin and soft, it really depends on preference on noodle texture (I prefer a little thicker and not super soft), noodles are thinner than spaghetti.

Conclusion: Would come here again since there was no wait and the service was fast, great place to satisfy dumpling cravings at a reasonable price.
