I love that they use the real leaf tea here and not teabags, although next time I will ask to put less leaves per pot, it was a bit too concentrated for me.
Can’t wait to be back! Thank you!
We went there for lunch. The pizza Margherita was good, not spectacular, but better than most. It was well balanced with sweet tomato, creamy fresh mozzarella and a charred crust. The crust was a bit dense, chewy and slightly undercooked, it could have been puffier with more alveoli. Perhaps the oven is not hot enough.
We also tried a the eggplant melanzane and shakshuka. Both were delicious and came with wonderful fresh bread.
If you are in the neighborhood and have a hankering for good pizza or Italian food, this place is well worth a visit.
The happy hour is in the sweet spot between lunch and the dinner service (2pm-4pm) when there’s a lull. What’s great about a lull? There’s plenty of bar and table seating available, street parking is achievable, and have a great menu of options. The negative is they have a lunch special of small pizza + salad + $5 glass of wine.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting with the large pizza oven radiating warmth throughout the restrurant. We ordered a few cocktails and a couple pizzas, salad and they have mussels or clams roasted in the pizza oven where we got the mussles.
I really like this place especially if you can time it before 4pm because Mioposto is pretty popular and the neighborhood crowd can just pack this place during the choice times at lunch and dinner.
Literally, at 6pm-7pm the place is packed wall to wall and people streaming out the door. If thats the case, walk 1 block south to “Pizzeria 22” as I love this place even a bit more.
I highly recommend their pizzas, but also enjoy their meatball sandwich, burrata and prosciutto, warm olives, and vegetarian sandwich. Earlier this week, I had a delicious fig infused dark and stormy cocktail and followed our meal with a bowl of pear and spiced cider sorbet.
There is a reason you frequently have to wait to be seated.
Finally, I want to say how much I enjoy watching the kitchen staff work. It’s like seeing a ballet as they toss pizza dough, mix salads, assemble dishes, and slide pizzas in and out of their oven. They do all of this with smiles on their faces and it’s clear that they enjoy each other’s company. The sense of community at Mioposto is strong 🙂
