Maybe I missed the memo, but they were not in any hurry to serve or to do anything.
We had a small group of eight and they sat us upstairs in a closed loft section.
There was no server for that area so the downstairs server came up to take our order and then forgot about us for 45 minutes.
I don’t understand why it takes 45 minutes to make pizza on a weekday evening. There was nothing happening downstairs.
When the food finally arrived I had to ask for plates and silverware.
The server did come back with plates and condiments, but then dissapeared below to get back to checking her phone underneath the loft.
I had to carry the rest of my pizza downstairs to the kitchen to ask for a box and the check.
I don’t expect Michelin star service, but I’ve had much better service at dive bars.
The decor was TVs on nearly every surface with an led score crawler over the bar.
It looks like a sci-fi gambling joint more than a pizza restaurant.
They did have specials, but if you make the mistake of holding the menu, they will charge the menu price not the ‘specials’ price.
The other Minskys in town (Shawnee, Leawood, KC Plaza, NKC Barry rd) were nothing like this.
I would skip this one and try somewhere else unless you are looking for the
Sports Betting bar vibe.
Paired with Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza so filling!
Josh, a seemingly energetic enthusiastic server greeted us and we ordered drinks, I and one other wanted Diet Coke. It came flat, nary a bubble in sight. I got up and asked Josh, at the bar, for a Coke Zero. Flat. The CO2 was out, a simple fix, except here. When we were nearly finished, Josh brought the other diner a can of Diet Coke, the other diner, not this diner.
I ordered a special, a slice, a salad, a drink. Cheese pizza was my order. Everyone was served their meal and I got my salad. I finished and waited for my cheese pizza. I finished and waited for my cheese pizza. I finished and waited for my cheese pizza. Mostly everyone else had finished when I got my pizza. Too bad my Cheese Pizza turned into a sausage and pepperoni. The headache I had went warp speed. I wasn’t hungry anymore and when they offered a new slice I turned it down because it was so unpleasant that I wanted to leave. I got the obligatory ‘sorry’. I didn’t want anything, but if you want repeat business offer a dessert (yes my meal was removed from the check) create good will, don’t be schmucks and flippantly say ‘sorry’.
So disappointed because I was hungry and love pizza.
I feel like I’m betraying the professional courtesy I owe my fellow service workers.
I also thought that someone would notice two diners holding both hands in front of their faces shielding from the Sun. As a Manager/Server it’s not about you. I know both are not easy jobs. When I go into a restaurant and every time my eye catches my server hanging at the bar or hostess station, or not urging the pizza guy to hurry, it really puts a wrench in my experience, all while one eye never leaves the phone screen.
Our server had an over the top personality, which is great, but that only goes so far. At least make it look like you’re doing something like changing the CO2, or standing in the pizza area putting a bit of pressure on the baker.
