One of my goto place in Chinatown for Catonese comfort food. There is no wrong order. Roast Chicken, Pork and Duck over Rice for everyday. Congee for when your feeling under the weather. Stir fry kitchen dishes are a must. The staff treats you like family. Always get lectures by the old lady for asking for ice water, stating it’s bad for my health.

This spot hosts Cantonese comfort food – service was spectacular & quick, and portions were generous.

we ordered the soy sauce chicken, fresh veggies, fish ball flat noodle soup, and sautéed fish fillet and they were all great.

paying in cash offers a slight discount

Ming Wong is a famous Cantonese style restaurant serving fresh butchered meats as well as other dishes.

We got a rice combo as well as butchered meat by the pound, including Siu yuk (crispy roasted pork), Cha siu, and Pai Kuat (Pork Ribs). The siu yuk was quite good, a little crispy but had a good flavor, some pieces did have a decent amount of fat but it wasn’t bothersome. The cha siu had a nice glaze on it with a good flavor, and the pork ribs had a good amount of meat on them. For the price, we got a good amount and it was quick and easy to get our order.

Never had I ever had an awful experience in a restaurant as much as I did in this one. Don’t let the 4.1 stars fool you. I went here with my two other friends who ordered the chicken broccoli, and fried rice , I ordered the wonton mein. First of all, my soup came in immediately fast while my friends food had to take 20 minutes before being served . My soup also had an extremely bad smell like unwashed or spoiled pork , nonetheless I tried it and the broth had no flavor along with the undercooked noodles and soggy wonton. The waitress only came by twice , once to get our orders (and got one of my friends order wrong) and another time to take our soy sauce with no explanation. After that nobody came by to check up on us. We noticed how they checked up on their other Asian customers except us. After the horrible experience we had to wait for someone to come by in order to get the bill and the gentleman (who wasn’t even our original server) tried to force us to tip more than we already did. It was infuriating because the food was bad along with the service and they expected more tip? If either of those two were good I would have tipped more. The only good thing out of this place was their cold canned beverages and warm tea they provide. Please do better.

I visited Ming Wong in New York and ordered the roasted duck and roasted pig. Flavor-wise, the food was solid — the meats were well-roasted with good texture and that classic Cantonese-style richness. The skin on both was nicely done, and you can tell they know how to handle roasted meats. That said, the seasoning leaned a bit on the salty side for my taste.

What left a less positive impression was the checkout experience. When it came time to pay, the staff selected a tip amount on the screen for me, and I felt slightly rushed to sign without much explanation. It wasn’t a great feeling, especially after an otherwise enjoyable meal.

Overall, the food itself is good and worth trying if you’re into traditional roasted meats. I just hope the service at the register can feel a bit more comfortable and transparent next time, as it really affects the overall experience.

Bring me back to my youth.
All the restaurants in Chinatown use to serve food like this Cantonese establishment.
This is a dying breed of Meat and congee purveyors as this style of food is no longer trendy but reminds-me of a different era.
The congee was thick and wholesome and the snow peas leaves cooked in Garlic was splendid, and the bread cruller was a blast from the past and Beef chow fun as I remember while we were young so many decades ago.
New times have new prices..
But a decent representation of a clean up chinese Diner.

My family and I went here and seating us was fast compared to the other places nearby which had an at least 15 minute wait.
It took a while for someone to take our food order and just that “food order” 20 mins later we asked if someone would take our drink order and the gentleman threw the drink menu on the table.
10 minutes later we asked someone if they would take our drink order.
We ordered an appetizer for the little one with rice as her meal. (They never brought it out)
They started bringing the food out one by one (like 5 mins apart) and I kept reminding them about her food (the appetizer). When the last item came out (5 adult meals one other appetizer) I again asked about her food (chicken wings and rice) and the gentleman was like oh it’s coming.
After everyone was done eating finally and she snacked on everyone’s food.
Someone came and asked if we were ready to pay and she
1) did not bring my printed bill
2) wanted me to just give her my card to just pay the bill
I asked if she could print the check and she gave it to me and I pointed out that it had charged us for 2 items we did not receive and her words were
“Tell somebody else don’t tell me”
I was like ohh, so I walked to the front and tried to tell them and one gentleman asked if I told anyone
I explained I tried to tell several people.
He told me to wait and I came back and explained to him that I didn’t want the items anymore just them removed.
The original gentleman that took our order was annoyed at us for pointing it out like god forbid we did not pay for items we did not get.
Rice is not included with the meals
The service was terrible
The portions were small
“Homemade water “ is $3

Traditional Cantonese style cuisine serving the local community for years. The staff here is friendly and efficient. I like that they’re one of the handful of Chinese joints open later (11pm closing) compared to most restaurants closing by 9pm these days. The BBQ meats, wonton, congee, and stir fry dishes here are all traditional Cantonese style that’s little on the oily-er side. For some reason the dishes always come out lukewarm, compared to pipping hot at other places. They said their kitchen is in the basement and they use a dumb waiter to bring up the food, which probably causes the dish to cool down by the time it arrives to your table. All in all, can’t go wrong with any dishes here. You get a small 5% discount if you pay cash!

Excellent service from the waitstaff. Didn’t catch an attitude when we requested some hot chili oil. They even gave us little bowls to share the food without us asking for it. Even the restroom was huge so it’s perfect for large people or people in wheelchairs.

Dinner here with my family… The food was delicious. Service was fine. Our waiter was very blunt, and we were taking him light heartedly. All was going well.

My only complaint is that after the waiter put my order in wrong, and the wrong dish was brought out, he seemed to expect that I’d just eat and pay for something I didn’t order… He acknowledged that it was his error, and then proceeded to pressure me to just accept the different dish (which did not look appealing). He told me what I ordered would take some time to make and that the cook put a lot of work into the dish he was pushing on me (it was just boring white rice, beef and broccoli).
Finally after waaay too much back and forth, he took the food away and only charged for my soup.

4 stars though, because other than that uncomfortable moment, we had a very nice experience
