Everything is made fresh. You can taste it. Huge egg rolls, chicken in the chicken fried rice is fresh (wasn’t really any flavor to me in it) , the gravy flavor is not my taste in the chicken and broccoli I didn’t care for it, honestly it’s not my taste in Chinese food at all, but if you want fresh, healthy tasting chinese food I think you’ll really like it, everyone has their separate taste when it comes to Chinese restaurants. I tried the chicken and broccoli with chicken fried rice, chicken fingers and egg roll. The chicken fingers are delicious! Other than that I’m sure people will really enjoy it here if they go for that healthy Chinese food taste lol

I’ve been hearing good things about the new Mindy’s in Middletown so I thought I’d give it a try. I rate it highly. I’ll start with the Mai Tai. It’s was the best I’ve had in some time. Fresh fruit, quality liquor and mix. Next up was the Nigiri sampler. Fresh sushi and perfect amount for a sampler. Next I chose my ol favorite, beef negimaki. Loaded with scallions and tender beef. That’s it I’m full. It was great. Nice environment and the pricing is a good value. I will try an entree next time. Can’t go wrong here.

My new favorite spot in the area – extremely flavorful food that is a step above other places for sure. I ordered the chicken chow fun, string beans with garlic, and Hunan chicken, and everything was excellent and fresh. I just moved from somewhere with excellent Chinese food and have been disappointed here until Mindy’s opened. You can smell the wok hei as you walk in and it is reflected in the food. Will only order from here from now on.

Reading the reviews here, we must have hit it on an off night, and we did have fairly high expectations. I was pleased with the menu, the friendly staff, and the decor. Average Asian-American fare including sushi rolls, but they also had some other dishes, Japanese and a little more atypical – like the short ribs don – unfortunately inedible – tough, chewy, gristly ribs – big bones, mushy broccoli – no flavor – no sauce. Ramen egg tasted like it’s been sitting in soy sauce for 6 months – degraded and much too strong and salty to eat. Also had pork belly buns – they, and food in general, seemed prepared ahead of time. Very dry and tasteless. The sauce tasted like cherry couch syrup. Even the cucumber slices were wilted and not fresh. My friend ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. Nothing to write home about – also tasteless and not prepared fresh. The appetizer was decent, pork dumplings. We barely touched our food. We won’t be back soon, hopefully they can pull their act together and we can try again. Right down the street, Rheas is amazing, so it Tokyo house in Newport.

I have eaten at the Mindy’s in Portsmouth, and outside ambiance, I had a great experience. I was excited to try the new Mindy’s in Middletown. It was really a disappointment. I threw out most of my sushi. The tuna was rubbery, the soft shell crab had freezer burn, and my nigiri plate had a few funky pieces of fish. All the prices had gone up and the quality had gone down.
As a person in the industry, I meet and talk to many people every day. So I will not only not return, I will definitely not recommend to guests at my bar. I basically threw out $100 in food this evening.

I would love to recommend this place as I really enjoy the food. Last night, I picked up my take out order only to find the receipt didn’t match the ordered amount?? They had automatically charged me $8.50 tip on a take out order! Arbitrarily lining your pockets on someone else’s CC is called stealing. What are they thinking?

We eagerly awaited the opening of Mindy’s Middletown location, overtaking the old French Confection location.
The remodel is amazing, they utilized the space remarkably well, creating a clean and cozy – yet also somehow spacious – environment.
Our server, Avery, was very pleasant and attentive. For a Monday service, it was busier than expected and she was the only server on staff. Even still, Avery took great care of us.
My daughter ordered a hibachi dish, my son ordered phó, and I order 3 appetizers as my meal (my way of sampling a new spot). Each dish was fantastic and plentiful, of course we had leftovers!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the non-alcoholic drink menu. My daughter ordered a Thai iced tea, my son a taro milk tea. We all loved these teas! Typically, places make them far too sweet and you’re served a syrupy drink. These teas were as they were intended, earthy and lightly sweet. Perfection.
We ended our meal with a dessert sampling which was also delicious. The green tea ice cream was also earthy and lightly sweet, a big win for me. The triple chocolate mousse was decadent and again, lightly sweet, and the fried ice cream was a gorgeous fluffy balance of comfort food.
Despite eating a fair amount, we left with ample leftovers and not feeling at all stuff but deeply satisfied.
We will definitely return to sample ramen and sushi!

Where have u been all my life. Crab Rangoon was yummy gooey perfection and the general Tsaos was absolutely amazing. Same goes for the pork fried rice. Definitely will be comin back again !
