I was heartbroken when my favorite sushi restaurant in Indianapolis, Ocean World, closed down last summer. Every time we went to a different sushi place, my husband would ask me, “But is it as good as Ocean World?“ And I would say it’s close but it’s not Ocean World quality.
I’m thrilled to say that I have found my new Ocean World! I could just repeat what everyone else has said, because the service was friendly and attentive, the decor was simple but lovely, and the Maki rolls were as good or better than what I got at Ocean World.
The prices were quite reasonable. For their regular “Choose 3” lunch special, I got the spicy salmon roll, the tuna and avocado roll, and the spider roll. I am not a fan of spicy food at all and other people must not be either because every time I order a spicy tuna or salmon roll at a sushi restaurant, there is zero spice in it. The spicy salmon roll at Minazuri had a pleasant but definitive kick to it. It was spicier than I normally would get, but neither my lips nor my tongue went numb, so I would say it was perfect. If you like a super spicy tuna roll, you might be disappointed, but it is spicier than you have probably gotten at most sushi restaurants in Indianapolis.
10s across the board! This will be my go-to sushi place from now on. Bonus points that it is just a few stores down in the same strip mall as my favorite Thai place in the city, Thai Papaya.

Relaxed and quiet environment. Service was good and the sushi n is really good. We walked in at 3pm for the lunch special and was told we were too late. Nobody else was there and we still orfered same thing (same portion) they didn’t acknowledge the arrival time. Get there early for a better experience and better price.

This is a great restaurant. Food is amazing quality. Service is nice. It’s small and cozy. Not too busy anytime I’ve visited. The staff is kind. The decorations are so beautiful. I’ve never been to Japan but this is how I imagine a small family restaurant would feel. I got tea and they brought out a whole pot. It was actual tea leaves not tea bags. The food quality is amazing. Presentation is so gorgeous.

The prices here are great! The staff are so helpful and even let me know the green kikkoman soy sauce bottles are refilled with soy sauce they made in house! I loved the Chicago onigiri, the filling to rice ratio was great and their rock shrimp came out very hot and fresh.
