Minato Sushi proves that great things come in small packages! This little shop is truly dynamite, offering a memorable dining experience that is absolutely worth the money you pay.
The ambiance and the food quality were both fantastic. Every dish was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, making it clear that the price is justified by the standard of the cuisine.
However, the true highlight of our visit was our waitress, Lushia. Her service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and highly professional. She genuinely elevated the entire meal.
The only minor note was the Durian mochi(take away – purchased frozen), which was admittedly quite overpowering in flavor. But even this small point doesn’t detract from the fact that Minato Sushi is a fantastic spot we can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended!

The sushi was decent. The teriyaki tuna roll was interesting and worth trying.
Service was decent except for 1 thing. I gave a 46 rand tip on a 364 rand bill but the server added 76 rand to my bill. While 30 rand isn’t a big deal, the dishonesty got to me

If you are looking for a small, intimate spot with a great vibe, Minato Sushi is a must-visit.
It’s the perfect place for a relaxed meal where the atmosphere feels just right. Unlike many sushi spots, the portion sizes here are actually generous and very satisfying. To top it off, the service was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout.

This small, cosy restaurant offers a wonderful experience of Asian cuisine. The food was top quality, fresh seafood and rice was used and the portions were very generous. Sushi was tasty and the roses were absolutely deluxe. I think the price of individual dishes and platters was pretty reasonable. We also had the Sakura cocktail which was great. To end off the night we had hot chocolates. We were helped by friendly staff. The restaurant also stocks Asian items which we bought – some sweets, ramen, bubble tea, fortune cookies. I will definitely be back for more.

This is my go-to Sushi place in Cape Town. The quality is amazing and the prices are affordable. The service has also improved a lot since my first visit a year or two ago, the staff are fast and nice. The only thing that I would say needs improvement is the music. In my opinion the music is extremely repetitive and kind of annoying with it all being catchy pop songs from 10 years ago. Other than that, this place is an absolute gem.

Small location with a few tables. In total, they could cater around around 18 people. No buffet offered here. Sushi portions are done well and the sashimi sizes are very generous. I’d return just for that. I’d suggest ordering a few of the signature rolls.
The staff is very friendly. They also offer some Chinese/Korean products to buy.
Parking is slightly more difficult as it’s very central.
