I think there may be new owners, but nothing has changed. My daughter is not little anymore and visiting from DC, so she begged us to eat at Minami’s on the way to PDX, for her trip back to the concrete jungle!
The teriyaki is still delicious and the portions are generous! The plates come with a delicious, crunchy iceberg lettuce salad with a scrumptious mayo based dressing. We also got a cup of miso soup. The teriyaki is not overpowering or overwhelming, and the grilled flavor of the chicken is spot on. My husband got the almond chicken and sweet & sour chicken combo. He asked for fried rice with his combo, but they goofed and gave him white rice. They fixed the mistake with a huge plate of fried rice! That made my husband happy! It was hot and chock full of good stuff! That’ll be dinner tonight!
*Note: some photos were taken after we dug in, so the portion size is a lot less on the sweet and sour plate! There was a lot more food on that plate before I took a photo!
Don’t gloss over Minami Yeriyaki! You’ll be very pleased.
Excellent accessibility and comfortable ordering drive thru. I can always say that this restaurant is the first place in my family when I think about what to eat. I always thank the host couple for their kindness and their restrained and refined food.
It was nice and quiet, and the service was quick.
We got the teriyaki chicken combinations. They come with another entree, salad, and soup. I got the almond chicken with mine, my wife got the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken teriyaki is amazing. We love that it is cooked on a grill and has some char to it. The almond chicken was crispy and tasty. Both of our favorites was the sweet and sour. The sauce was the best sweet and sour we have ever had. It tasted fresh, homemade, and natural; not like a lot of other sweet and sour that tastes artificial. Highly recommend, and we will be back.
I’m definitely going to be back!
I do ceramics a lot at Jan’s Ceramics and this place is so close.
I also loved the side salad dressing!
The food was great, actually. The starter salad was just right and the miso was tasty as well. I really enjoyed the yakisoba but the lunch deal for the chicken and rice was a bit meh. The rice was just plain and almost tasted a bit metallic.
Either way, worth your time!
FYI: Call ahead, don’t order through door dash as it’s more expensive.
Growing up in Seattle, but currently living in Vancouver and working in Portland, I truly miss good Teriyaki. Minami was able to scratch that itch! Picked this order up. The chicken teriyaki was perfect. Rice was sticky and warm. Salad and dressing were on the side. Sauces were good. Only slight con is their egg rolls are more like spring rolls with a slightly thicker/possibly breaded outer wrap, but they’re not bad, just different. I will be back!
Need to ask if their sauce is Gluten Free next time!
