Such a great experience at Mimi’s! The food was amazing—every dish was full of flavor and tasted like real Peruvian food. Everything was so good we had to call the chef over to congratulate him and take a picture. We even chatted a bit about Peruvian food and how important it is to keep it authentic. As a Peruvian, I strongly recommend this place. ️

Atmosphere is charming, the owner is extremely friendly and charming. The location is cozy, with warm decor. The yucca is fried perfectly, and the complimentary sauces are excellent. Ask your server for advice if you have a low spice tolerance, the food can be spicy. The food is authentic, would recommend.

I called ahead and ordered the beef chaufa and ended up adding some empanadas to my order when I got there to pick it up. The food was pretty good, forgot to take a picture of the other food before I ate it all.

I didn’t dine in, but it’s a small and intimate place for good delicious food.

I have been to several Peruvian restaurants all over the US and I can say this was by far the best. Delicious flavors and good portions!!! Highly recommend

I have not been to the actual location, but this was my first time ordering from them and I did it through Uber eats. WOW! It is juicy, well made with love! I love family owned businesses and you should certainly give this spot a try! I was looking to switch things up and they did there THING!

Love Peruvian food! My daughter says this is going to be our new Tuesday night out replacement restaurant…she is very selective. The pita creamy cilantro dipping sauce and the Conchitas did the trick!

Severly disappointing! Ordered online for delivery to my hotel because I wasn’t feeling well. After about an hour I received a message from the delivery service stating the restaurant did not have my order. I ended up walking to the restaurant where I ran into the delivery driver who was still trying to get them to find my order. The lady behind the counter insisted they never received an order and wanted me to cancel it (on their page). A few minutes later she miraculously found my order in the system but then advised me that they did not have what I ordered (basic chicken and rice). This place looked like it had not been cleaned in 5 years so honestly I think I dodged the food poisoning bullet.

I would give this place a negative 5 if I could. My family is from the very North Western area of peru and we know what real Peruvian seafood is like. This place is without a doubt disgraceful and insulting to authentic Peruvian cuisine. I have travel across the United States and across Peru and this is by far the worst I have ever had. I hope this review stings and gives the owner a wake up call to straighten up his business and fortify his food.
Service was okay but rarely checked on us and felt like they were more interested in chatting amongst coworkers than making sure we were doing well and food was acceptable. The place was also very dirty. Floors were very sticky and not very appealing. I hope this review helps the business raise their standards and look forward to them improving.

My wife and I came a few years back, and we had a great experience. However, this time we didn’t have the same experience we had before. My parents and I are originally from Peru, and I was very excited for them to try it. Even though, we were the only group at the restaurant at that time the service was not the best. We had to asked a few times for cups, ice, sauces for the things we ordered, and the server kept forgetting them. Part of th dishes we ordered were fully cooked and tasted great. A few other dishes were not fully cooked, and we asked if we can get it done properly, and they took the dish back and after a longer wait, the dish came back basically the same way. It might’ve been a bad day, but unfortunately, my family was not pleased and won’t be coming back.

I recently dined at Mimi’s Peruvian Cuisine, and it turned out to be a very enjoyable introduction to Peruvian cuisine in Honolulu. Located along Keʻeaumoku Street, the restaurant has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that feels comfortable and approachable. The space is modest in size but well organized, creating an environment where diners can focus on the food and the unique flavors that define Peruvian cooking.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Peruvian cuisine is its fusion of influences from Indigenous, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese culinary traditions. Mimi’s menu reflects this diversity well, offering dishes that highlight bright citrus flavors, fresh seafood, and savory grilled meats. The ceviche stood out as one of the highlights of the meal. The fish was fresh and properly marinated in citrus, creating the characteristic balance of acidity and freshness that defines the dish. The accompanying ingredients added texture and contrast without overpowering the seafood.

Another standout was the use of traditional Peruvian sauces and seasonings. Many dishes incorporated ají peppers and herb-forward marinades that gave the food both warmth and depth of flavor. The grilled meat dishes were well seasoned and cooked properly, delivering tender textures and rich flavor profiles. Side dishes such as rice and potatoes complemented the proteins well and reflected the comforting elements that are common in Peruvian home-style cooking.

Service throughout the visit was friendly and attentive. Staff members were welcoming and appeared knowledgeable about the menu, which is helpful for diners who may be less familiar with Peruvian cuisine. The pacing of the meal felt comfortable, allowing time to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed.

The overall atmosphere reflects the style of a neighborhood restaurant that focuses on delivering authentic flavors rather than elaborate presentation. This simplicity works well because the cuisine itself provides plenty of character through its vibrant ingredients and seasoning.

Overall, Mimi’s Peruvian Cuisine offers a strong and authentic representation of Peruvian flavors in Honolulu. The combination of fresh ingredients, traditional preparation, and welcoming service makes it a worthwhile destination for anyone interested in exploring the depth and diversity of Peruvian cooking.
