I cannot recommend this place. The service was poor, the barista was not friendly and had an attitude. The brown sugar cinnamon coffee was just okay–nothing special–but the food was a letdown. The potato pastry was completely soggy and sad.

The real dealbreaker, though, was the restroom. It was dirty, and there was absolutely no toilet paper or soap. Basic hygiene is a bare minimum for a coffee shop, and Milyar Cafe failed that test. I won’t be coming back.

Good speciality coffee with clean, cozy and ornate environment!

I was firstly attracted by the exterior of the cafe when we were driving. It’s a Middle Eastern-inspired cafe that sells Turkish coffee and pastries.

We tried the ice Yemeni latte and ice hibiscus tea. The latte is unique with flavor of cinnamon and cardamom. It’s aromatic, smooth, and not too sweet. The tea is refreshing, lightly sour and naturally sweet. Love them both! And I wish the tea is larger, so refreshing!

I had high hopes for my visit, but unfortunately, it fell short. The table was dirty, with sticky coffee residues from a previous customer, and it wobbled so much that I struggled to cut my food without spilling my tea. While the Yemeni tea had a lovely aroma, it was served in a cup that was quite dirty, covered in oily smudges outside. I was too bothered to enjoy. The fork I received had bent tines like crooked teeth, which contributed to a rundown experience, especially considering how nice the exterior looked. I was with a friend, so I decided not to make a scene since it was her favorite café. On a positive note, the sweet desserts were excellent, although the savory pastries were just average.

I kept trying to find this place by searching “Yemeni coffee” with no luck. Had to go Sherlock Holmes on Google Maps to find it. Got a chicken roll and it was soft and succulent. Not spicy.

I feel savory Arab food has all the flavor of Indian food without the heat.

Dripping this review to remind myself to come back here.

Yemeni Latte was amazingly infused with cinnamon and other herbs. Adeni tea was good too with its strong flavour. Baklava was delectable. We also tried the pistachio milk cake (tres leches). The space is pretty spacious and ambience is good for a sit down tea/coffee. Parking around is limited.

This is first time such a fancy cafe. This Arabic cafe is so fancy that almost everything is gold plated. We rose latte and rose cake, honey cake and lavender latte. They are delicious and should definitely try.

I thought I’d give this place another try, but I was disappointed again. The cheese samosa was tasty but was floppy and a bit chewy. The service is PAINFULLY slow. There’s only one guy serving and taking orders and it was painful to see. I couldn’t finish the coffee I had here last time because it was far too bitter. The mango Arabia was delicious but it was really just a mango milkshake.

The decor /interier is beautiful but sadly not well kept. Some seats were stained and dirty. I hate leaving a poor review for a local business, and really hope to see them improve.

There have been a lot of new Arab style coffee shops open in Berkeley/North Oakland and this is one is great. The coffee is very reasonably priced, and they have very many colorful Arabic pastries. The Baklava is huge! The staff are very friendly. What I enjoy the most is the location and interior. The shop is on a corner surrounded by large windows, so there is a lot of light. I love that they have seats and a counter along the window, and there are flowers out front to enjoy looking at. A great place to sit and chat. They are also open later, so this is an awesome place to work/study as well. Come check this place out.

Workers are super cool, progressive people and the place is really nice for hanging out. The drinks are affordable too. Had the pistachio milk cake, it was reaaaaally good! Could have been a bigger slice though.

Milyar Coffee came to the rescue tonight! We needed a little something to power through a few more hours of work, and their Yemeni Lattes were just the ticket. Smooth, flavorful, and definitely provided the extra focus we needed. The Biscoff cheesecake was also incredibly rich and delicious, a perfect little indulgence. Highly recommend Milyar for a quality caffeine fix and tasty treats!
