We stopped here for breakfast recently. The restaurant was very nice and well kept. We were promptly helped when we arrived. Ordered our food at the counter and went upstairs and sat on the balcony. A beautiful view for breakfast. The server brought our food up to us when it was ready. It was hot and plentiful upon arrival. Both my husband and I were very happy with the food. We will stop here again the next time we are in Milwaukee.

Fantastic service, great people but unfortunately mediocre food. From the daily Mexican entree to the soups that stick around for a few days at times—there’s definitely room for significant improvements. Every Monday (and usually Tuesday) the same chicken is portioned as part of Ofielia’s Mexican food for burritos, followed by enchiladas, quesadillas or chimichangas. It’s understandable as chicken is one of the cheapest proteins on the market but they sincerely need to get off the chicken and pork Mexican entrees as often as they’re served. The chicken is dry, tasteless and deserves a grand exit from the mainstay lunch entree selection.

I was here for a convention and the walk was well worth it! Better quality food, excellent service and a variety of offerings. I’m from New York, and I’m used to well oiled machines when it comes to Deli’s. Waterfront deli does a lot of things right and has a fun atmosphere

Well, I had my first bad experience as I stupidly strayed from a salad or sandwich and tried their chicken enchiladas. Brutally honest opinion… never put those back on the menu. First of all, they were not enchiladas but burritos as they used flour tortillas. Second chicken was rubbery like it was boiled. And, who puts green peas in a Mexican (actually was more TexMex) dish?

Embarrassed to admit after over 15 years of frequenting Waterfront I’m leaving my first review for them.
I cannot say enough about the deli. Everything is super good. Salads are fantastic and a great deal compared to other places around. Honestly their salads can feed 2 and not exaggerating. Their sandwiches are as solid as their salads.
You cannot go wrong from soups to salads to sandwiches to their pizzas.

The staff was really kind and makes some great sandwiches! I will definitely be back and hopefully with some time to check out the second floor next time!

This place has been here for ages and this was the first time I had actually gone in to get lunch. I ordered the entree of the day which was two chicken chimichangas with rice and beans. (Photo shows my meal half eaten, but at least I remembered to get a picture this time.)
The chimichangas were flavorful, I love the added cilantro on the rice and beans. The beans oddly reminded me of chocolate pudding cups but that was probably my taste buds.
I have ordered catering from Milwaukee Waterfront Deli in the past, and should have reviewed them for that, but I didn’t. So here I will say the Continental Breakfast spread they put together for me a year ago was well received by my work group. Delivery and set up was included which made my morning event go even smoother.
All in all a great local establishment that is well loved and admired by so many. Next time I will need to eat in, instead of rushing back to work.

So glad to find this place near my hotel! You don’t really appreciate the ambience until you step inside. Love the pastrami!

Unacceptable Service and Lack of Compassion.
I’m extremely disappointed with the experience at this establishment. My daughter, who is currently suffering from kidney stones, was in urgent need of a restroom. Despite her obvious distress, the staff refused to allow her to use the bathroom, insisting that it required payment. Turning away a child in medical distress is both heartless and unprofessional. This experience reflects a complete lack of empathy and basic human decency. I will be filing formal complaints regarding this incident.

This little gem is a family tradition. Anytime I’ve taken my kids to performances or on special excursions in downtown Milwaukee we always make time for a stop at the Deli. The food is exceptionally fresh with a great variety to suit all pallets. The service is always with a welcoming smile. And the ambiance is wonderfully magical! From the elaborate murals of theatre patrons (some famous Milwaukeeans) and lavish mirrors, to the fascinating colorful two-story food lift, there’s something of wonder to amuse throughout the Deli.

TL;DR: Historic milwaukee deli w/ top tier sandwiches, fast service, and a unique atmosphere.
Food: I tried the smoked salmon BLT sandwich with a 1/2lb salad and a snickerdoodle cookie. ~$18 for the lot. It was light, fresh, and filling. I really enjoyed it.
Service: Fast service with a unique food delivery elevator to the 2nd floor.
Vibe: Historic building, upscale deli vibes. Very milwaukee.
Wifi: Strong with no usage limits
