The bartender told me they’re known for their cast iron ribeye, so of course I ordered that. It was very good, although I’d probably try something different next time.
The Brussels appetizer was phenomenal.
My husband had the lobster tail, which he said was so overcooked it had the consistency of chicken, but then again, maybe we shouldn’t have ordered lobster in Wyoming. He loved the grilled corn!
The bartender brought us a complimentary bread pudding dessert in honor of our anniversary, which was very kind.
Overall, it was a positive experience and we would return.
This restaurant is right in the heart of Jackson.
You can sneak into the cowboy bar after your dinner via the restrooms (the bar and restaurant have joint restrooms)
Food was average. For its price, it was below average. It was on the expensive side. But the whole town is pretty expensive so if you’re okay with that you might disagree with me. The steak was good but nothing special.
The restaurant had lots of options, including nice fish options.
Fish and steaks come as a single piece of meat, so make sure to order sides (this also does not help the pricing).
Otherwise, great atmosphere and cool spot. Love that it gets you access to the bar which is worth checking out.
The meal was cooked well, with good quality ingredients and a simple presentation. Everything is à la carte, as expected at this price point. The bread and butter were a nice touch, and my Manhattan cocktail was excellent. Unfortunately, my husband’s drink order was mishandled twice; he ordered a Pendleton and Coke and first received Pendleton and 7Up, and then Pendleton and Dr. Pepper. These may seem like small mistakes, but they added to a growing sense of carelessness.
The real issue, however, was the service and overall professionalism of the staff…or lack there of. When we arrived, we passed a wall of expensive wines, only to be greeted by a hostess loudly flirting with a man around the corner. Their conversation was wildly inappropriate, involving him making comments about “her being blessed with junk in the trunk.” She was dressed unprofessionally in white capri sweatpants and a hot pink shirt, and tennis shoes, which only emphasized the lack of formality.
As the night progressed, we realized the man she was speaking with was not a guest, but the manager… raising serious concerns about the tone being set for the entire staff. While our own server was polite, attentive, and carried herself professionally (and may have been the subject of inappropriate jokes we overheard from the male staff), the rest of the team behaved more like they were working at a casual chain restaurant. From the dining room, we could see and hear into the back hall where staff were goofing off, man handling each other, cracking jokes, and making fun of someone with what seemed to be a mocking tone toward “Polish” people.
Although the food was enjoyable, the unprofessional and inappropriate behavior from the staff made this experience uncomfortable and disappointing. At this price point, I expected refined service and a classy atmosphere. Instead, it felt chaotic, immature, and unworthy of any fine dining label. I cannot recommend this restaurant until serious changes are made to the staff culture and management presence.
My sirloin baseball steak was one of the best I’ve ever had and girlfriends risotto was a 10 of 10!
Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
Also, if you are going upstairs to the bar afterwords, make sure to get your hand stamped and use the staircase by the restroom to avoid the lines outside!
