Additionally the fries were crisp and could retain their float in water. All aboard!
Food was excellent… steaks were phenomenal, as were the prime rib and ceasar salad.
Downside…. no chocolate martinis..
Our friends had a Patty Melt with a Caesar Salad and a Cheddar Double Double Burger with fries. No complaints. Everything executed very well.
My husband had a Reuben, said it was also good, could’ve used more dressing. Onion Rings were panko coated, thick and crunchy and yummy. Onto the fish. I’d seen pictures and it looked great. Instead of fish and chips I opted for the Cod Sandwich. Fish was cooked perfectly, crispy and flaky. Coleslaw was pretty basic but the garlic aioli took it over the top! Lots of pickles for me. Our friend and I agreed on the delicious toasted brioche bun. We also both thought the fries could have been a bit more done but were seasoned well.
Service was great! Sam did a great job helping us and was very attentive. I should mention you have to access the restaurant through the Cornhusker Hotel lobby. We will definitely be back!
If you come for breakfast/brunch, you will certainly get the most attentive service and the food more than gets the job done. Have some coffee, go for a walk, and bang, boom, bam, if you have to go #2 it’ll come out. Great food, quality service, good price.
If you come for the evening for food and dinner: it gets the job done, solid food, solid and attentive service when you take into consideration how they’re staffed; this isn’t their fault, I just genuinely think this place is only busy during sports season for the Huskers which makes it harder to staff – inviting the owner to correct me if I’m wrong.
If on a night before a Friday before game night, very fast service for food and 7 out of 10 for drinks. If on a Friday before a game you will wait a few extra minutes but it doesn’t change that the drinks are solid, and the girls are busting their asses. Treat them nicely and they will do the same in return. When you look at this place it’s hard to imagine it staying fully staffed all year. (Again, due to sports season), so show some grace.
This is the hotel the football team stays at so if it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me. Know that on the weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) before a home game it’ll be slower service because of more customers. Bonus feedback: the caesar chicken salad is a 8.4 out of 10… 8.7 of 10 if you add the chicken. The wings are their signature dish. Stop your complaining and enjoy a better than average but less than perfect establishment.
The food was good across the board, offering reliable pub fare in a casual and welcoming atmosphere. While the menu may not surprise you, the quality and consistency make it a worthwhile stop if you’re downtown or near the Haymarket area.
Overall, it’s a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy a laid-back meal or drinks with friends in a setting that celebrates a classic American beer brand. The unique ambiance alone makes it worth a visit.
Started with a vegetarian chili that was actually very good, fresh, and home-made. Next, a blackened chicken sandwich (minus the bun) eh, it was ok, nothing to get excited about.
Service is what makes this a 5 star visit.
The food was a mix depending on what you got.
The beer samples are served in the cutest little boot shotglass
Beer cheese soup 3.5 star
It was just very salty. No complexity of flavor here. I always order this when I see it and often I do find it like this. It feels like the norm for a lot of places, but I’ve had a few outstanding ones and this was not it.
Caesar salad 4 stars
Very standard Caesar, but I like them and there was nothing wrong with it.
Onion rings 4.5 stars
I feel like it’s just today maybe, but the onions didn’t seem fresh. Everything else about them were fantastic. Perfectly crispy, cooked to perfection, just marred by this particular onion.
Blackened chicken quesadilla 5 stars
Everything about this was great. Would order again. This happens to be my mans go to order.
We ordered the soup and salad combo.
The soup portion is huge (in a bowl) but the salad portion was very small (in a cup). I got a shot of the chili to go with it. The chili was solid 4 star item (I preferred it over the beer cheese soup).
We had issues with the temperature of the soup. We did ask to have it reheated and it was warmer when returned but still not piping hot. If your expectations are for a bowl of piping hot soup, skip the beer cheese for sure as they were unable to do it. The chili we received in the shot (which would also cool faster due to size) was hotter than the beer cheese soup.
Parking is downtown Lincoln parking. They do have a garage that you can park in and walk to and there is metered street parking.
