If you want more varieties of beef and seafood selections, you can upgrade to the $68 gold or higher so I highly recommend this place!
Highly recommended: the A5 Wagyu Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki—absolutely worth it. Pair it with their fresh vegetables and house dipping sauces for the best experience. If you’re a wagyu lover or celebrating a special occasion, this place is a must-visit.
We had 36 plates of Wagyu. so GOOOOOOD
Fresh fish and their vegetable bar was nice too with their appetizers all being fairly good.
Pricing of course is a bit high but I’d still recommend for the experience if your fond of hot pot.
This Mikiya is located inside the Hillsdale mall and we got in fairly quickly having reserved a spot a week earlier. Inside the restaurant, you are greeted with a shelf of Waygu beef from Japan signifying that they are indeed straight from Japan.
I was a little curious as to the meat itself so I looked a little closer at the shelf into the labeling. Here’s a fun fact, those Waygu beef you see are actually from 2024 and not from 2025!
I know, a shocker. I was shocked too, but on a second thought I have frozen my beef before too to preserve it. As long as it taste fresh then I guess it’s okay?
The decorations inside is on the modern side with a very cool selections of wavy lighting on top. All of us decided to give diamond Waygu set a try:
Diamond Waygu Set – 5 / 5
The menu is actually pretty simple and easy to follow. You get all major types of cut of waygu beef, unlimited followed by unlimited drinks that are self served. The same with the seafood platter which came with fish, scallop, abalone, and snow crabs.
There are a few selection on broths and you get two per table and they were both tasty. You really didn’t need much add-on for the meat to taste good. I couldn’t really remember the number of waygu ribeye we got, but yea, a crap ton I guess? LOL. They were good.
With fresh ingredients, it’s really hard to mess up. They did a great job ensuring ingredients are good and although the time limit was 90 minutes, they’ve let us stay a little longer without much fuss.
O yeah, try to ube Thai ice tea yogurt mix before you leave. I’m sure you’ll be genuinely surprised at how unique this blends well together. It’s a drive but on a good day I may just bring my family back again.
Seriously though, what’s with the outdated Waygu beef on storage close to the entrance though? Hmmm….are they serving that to us or is that just decorations? I guess we’ll never know, lol.
This is an AYCE place with various levels of options you can pick. The higher cost levels have more expensive cuts of meat available, but I would say all are very good. But pricey. We spent over $180 for 3 people for lunch for the basic level. But the place was crowded the whole time we were there.
The various meats available are fantastic and delicious. They have a good selection of base soups to cook with, and while I’m NOT a fan of the sukiyaki sauce in general I went with it as my friends wanted it, and it was DELICIOUS.
The set-up is pretty typical for a Hot Pot place, and you place your orders for meats with the staff and they bring them out. There are only a few slices of meat on each plate but you can order several at a time. They have special selections and seafood that you can order in limited quantities based on the level of AYCE you chose.
If I were to ding them on something the selection of ingredients for your dipping sauce was poor (mitigated by the tasty sauce), and the amount of veggies available were limited (at least at lunch) compared to other places I’ve been. They did offer a wagyu curry (very good) and kind of a ground wagyu beef sauce (ok) you could put over rice as an option which I hadn’t seen before.
Staff was friendly and professional, and were quick to take and deliver meat orders. Overall I’d recommend, but this isn’t a place you’d probably come to regularly.
