I had one of the most disappointing and disrespectful customer experiences I’ve ever encountered at Mike’s Inn, and I genuinely regret giving this place my business.
From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and dismissive. What really stood out — in the worst way — was the lack of basic customer respect. Instead of feeling valued as a paying customer, I was made to feel like an inconvenience. In today’s competitive service industry, that is simply unacceptable.
Key issues that should concern anyone considering visiting:
• Poor customer service: Staff came across as rude and dismissive rather than professional and accommodating.
• Unwelcoming environment: The overall vibe made it clear customer comfort is not a priority.
• Lack of professionalism: The way I was spoken to was completely inappropriate for any business that expects repeat customers.
• No accountability: There was no attempt to correct the situation or make things right.
People don’t just pay for a product or service — they pay for the experience. Unfortunately, this was an experience I would strongly caution others about. There are far too many businesses out there that actually value their customers to justify tolerating this kind of treatment.
Until there are serious improvements in customer respect and professionalism, I cannot recommend Mike’s Inn to anyone.

Good pours, decent price, friendly bar tender (bearded guy). Seems very much like a local hang out which I liked.

Grossly unprofessional service. If you are not a regular do not come here. I work late shifts and I’m in my 30s so I normally show up late night at bars to play pool. I’m typically known to help the staff with the belligerently drunk and clean up as I normally come sober and not to party but just to play pool. I’m originally from Muskegon but I only come here seasonally in the winter for the past few years. The first night I came to this bar trying to play pool there were some 20-year-olds belligerently drunk. It was getting close to closing time and an effort to expedite the game apparently I offended one of those 20-year-olds. And apparently one of those 20-year-olds runs the place because as I proceeded to get a second drink I was told that I was cut off for upsetting the customers. As I tried explaining the situation and how grossly and appropriate this was I was not heard. In fact the bartender was actually quite rude and clearly did not care what I had to say because she did not know me so I must be a significant. It’s clear that they do not want new business. The only thing that keeps this bar alive is that they are only late night bar. Pool is $2 a game which is pretty steep. The place looks like it hasn’t been updated since the ’80s or ’90s. The music also has not been updated since the ’80s or ’90s. It’s unfortunate that this is the type of behavior that they cater to instead of a more mature crowd. I wish Lakeshore tavern was still open. If you are new to town or visiting town and trying to find a place to get together with friends to spend time and money this is not the place. I fully intend on letting my local friends know the way I was treated. It’s a small town and they can do what they want with that information. Apparently this is where you can go to hang out with belligerently drunk 20-year-olds that run the show and get away with terrible behavior.

Great dive bar in a great location. definitely our go to spot when we are downtown. Sometimes the crowd can be a little rough but I am very glad they have a dress code and enforce it to cut down on incidents.

Very rude staff, kicked us out after 3 minutes of being there. No one goes there unless the other bars are closed but honestly there are tons of welcoming bars in Muskegon to spend money on. There’s a reason there’s tons of detail 1 stars and vague 5 stars

Not bad for a dive bar but drink prices seem to be gouging. I heard some people are boycotting Mike’s this year during bike time because of it, I may now too after seeing tonight’s prices. Shouldn’t be this much for a dive bar.

The drinks are good. The prices vary on who is bartending. Trying to get a drink can be a challenge depending on if they like you or not. But for the most part it’s the only bar that stays open till 2 anymore. There’s no competition.

I’ve been going there since early 60’s changed hands, still a good place to meet friends. Great place during bike time to be part of the action!!! Good people good times! I’ve had some problems there, but nothing unusual for a place where people are drinking. Nothing more serious than a heart attack otherwise and some attitudes!
