First impressions hit pretty hard sometimes and if a pizza place could be a dive, this would be it. Although in need of a face lift, the pie is deserving of a mention, and the garlic bread is fantastic! Does the bent pizza pan flow all that flavor right towards the center of the pie, or is it just a grease trap ? I don’t care, it’s delicious!
I rated Mike’s a 4 in food because the pizza is better than a lot of the pies out there. Service was on point, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was lacking in a lot of areas, but I believe that the personality of the people helped stabilize the comfort level.

Easily my favorite pizza in West Haven. There used to be so many contenders but they’ve all fallen to the wayside while Mike’s has stayed consistent. The house salad is so simple but that in house made Italian dressing is killer. I’d go just for the salad. Might ask them to add some cucumbers next time though.

I really wanted to like this place but it was a big disappointment. The pizza crust was light and crispy that was the positive. The sauce and meatball lacked any flavor at all. Unfortunately the same with the soup. I found myself adding tons of pepper to the pizza and salt to the soup. I also get this place has been around for a while but it doesn’t excuse the filth. It all made me question the sanitation standards in the kitchen! Ending on a positive note – our server was very sweet and did a great job!!

I seem to be striking out with Pizza in the West Haven area. Not very flavorful, super crunchy black crust on my small pepperoni pizza, and the toppings less than generous on our large sausage and onion – famy was not thrilled about getting only a couple bits of sausage.

I called to order because we like your pizza and we were on our way home from Hartford. We live around the corner from Mike’s.
Told them we would pick up in 45 minutes so they didn’t have to rush. They refused to take our order because they “don’t do make ahead”. I said it would be fine, we just wanted to pick up when we arrived. If they asked, I would have paid for it over the phone.
“No, come in, we’re slow, we will make it right away.”
We get up at 3:30AM for work so we didn’t have time to wait for them to make it.
The last time we ordered, it took more than an hour to get our pizza even though it was supposed to be 30 minutes. Didn’t complain when we waited but now, you have lost our business.

Great pizza! While it may not be quite as tasty as Sally’s or Pepe’s in New Haven, it’s as close as you can get outside of the city. Great service, and very reasonable prices.
