Regional BBQ specialties served up on plates & in sandwiches in a roadhouselike setting.

We stopped by Midwood Smokehouse today and tried their burgers, and honestly it was a great experience. The burger was cooked perfectly, juicy, flavorful, and you could really taste the quality of the meat. The toppings were fresh and balanced, and the bun held everything together without getting soggy, which is always a good sign of a well-made burger.
The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Even though they’re known for their BBQ, the burgers definitely deserve attention too. If you’re in the area and craving a solid, satisfying burger, this place is absolutely worth the visit.

Come for the ribs, stay for the sides.
I expected the ribs and brisket to be good (and they were elite), but I was surprised by how good everything else was. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the pulled pork was spot on.
Sometimes BBQ joints slack on the sides, but the mac & cheese here was great. It’s rare to find a place that executes the entire menu this well. Highly recommend grabbing a platter and trying a bit of everything.

Midwood Smokehouse is an incredible BBQ restaurant!! The pulled pork was tasty, the beans were very flavorful, the Mac & cheese was nice and creamy, and the hush puppies were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. But THE BEST was the cornbread! It was cooked perfectly in the cast iron pan with creamed butter and honey on the side. Definitely some of the best cornbread I’ve ever had! Our server was very nice and it was a comfortable, relaxing restaurant. If I lived in the area, this would be a regular spot for me.

Great BBQ spot in Charlotte. Burnt ends and bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers were really good.
We went for lunch on a Friday and parking was definitely a little difficult but after a few loops around the lot we found a spot.

What a cool and very good BBQ joint! They only have a few locations, but this one was clean, vibrant, and welcoming.
My wife and I split the combo platter with four meats: brisket, ribs, chopped pork, and chicken. The sides we chose were collards, which I’m not a fan of, but my wife enjoyed throughout. The sweet potato fries were amazing and came in such a healthy portion (I couldn’t finish them, and I love fries).
Our waiter was quick to help us and kept our drinks full with a smile.
Kids are more than welcome. The ambiance is nice—loud at times—but you can easily hear your guests.
Plenty of parking in a free lot, and I could see that if it were busy, you might need to wait, but it’s definitely worth it.

Food arrived freezing cold! hush puppies were so small and hard not fresh burnt ends tasted extremely dry I have ordered from other midwood smokehouse locations and it tasted fresh not ordering from this location ever again! It truly was a waste of my money!

Went to see what Carolina BBQ could offer… Let’s just say we are still on the hunt. Midwood has the look and feel of a promising BBQ spot but the food sadly leaves a lot to be desired. I had the “Well Fed” plate (pictured) which had brisket (had the mixed option and it was not tender or moist), pulled pork (they forgot to season I guess), ribs (decent ribs), and I added the burnt ends (great flavor). I didn’t get the hush puppies (server error) but the ones I tried were great. For the sides I tried the MAC which was surprisingly good and very cheesy for a BBQ place, the collards which had way too many stems for my liking, and tried the borracho beans (spicy pinto beans and pickled onions) they were pretty good. While it all taste okay or not there, the food was way too much so I took most of it home. Oddly though the next day the food taste nothing like before and was less spectacular…

Ribs and brisket were really good. Good bark on the brisket. The best hushpuppies I’ve ever had. The coleslaw was not good though. Top notch on the service though.

The bartender low-key convinced me to add on a half o’the ribs. And I’m very glad I did. I had to get back to the hotel to do some work, but I will definitely be eating their regularly as I come into town more often.

Ribs were good, but brisket was a total disappointment. Too much fat. I’m not going back. We specifically asked for mixed lean and moist. But that’s what we received. I should returned that back to kitchen instead of ruining my Sunday. We had stomach pain for the rest of the day.
