I just found my favorite salad ever here! Everything was incredibly fresh. The avocado dip was so good, creamy, and full of flavor. The whole place was spotless, which I really appreciate. Dessert was glorious, perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. And our waitress was genuinely nice and very attentive. Such a great experience from start to finish! Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a wonderful relaxing dinner her with hubby. Our server was Tommy and he was Fantastic. He was knowledgeable, engaging and a lot of fun. This was our first visit, but we will definitely be back. You must get the Skillet Cornbread. It was delicious. My husband had the brisket, sweet potato fries, and collard greens. I had the smoked chicken, cole slaw and Miswood Salad. Everything was so good. We quenched our thirst with a Marguerite for hubby and the Peach Sangria for me. No sweet tea for me this time.
The bathroom was clean as well as the rest of the facility. There was a full bar. There are booths as well as tables and chairs. Plenty of free parking. I must try the dessert on the next visit.

The food is always delicious. Sometime the collard greens have too much stem in them for me. The mac n cheese is good. The wings crispy with the sauce on the side is my favorite. Getting the pig out for 2 people is well worth your money. I usually get it by myself and have 2 meals off of it. Try the strawberry tequila sunrise- my speciality drink at the Birkdale location. The banana pudding taste like a “MeMa” or “Grandma” made it. Overall delicious. They could have better silverware and speciality drinkware.

So my wife and I took a trip to Cornelius to visit her long-lost elementary school best friend and casually scope out neighborhoods for our future relocation like we’re on HGTV: “Latino Couple Leaves Florida for Hallmark Town.”
First of all this town looks fake. Like somebody built it for a Christmas movie and forgot to take it down. Clean streets. Happy families. Kids playing. Nobody arguing. I checked my phone twice to make sure we were still in the United States.
We strolled through Birkdale Village and it was giving “Safest Zip Code on Earth.” People shopping. Dogs smiling. Even the air felt polite.
Then we smelled it.
Smoke. Glory. Destiny.
We walked into Midwood Smokehouse and immediately made a financially irresponsible decision: The Feast for Five.
There were not five of us.
We did not care.
Brisket sliced so perfectly it looked like it graduated with honors. Burnt ends that could make a grown man rethink his life choices. Ribs so tender they basically apologized and fell off the bone. BBQ chicken that made every other chicken I’ve ever eaten look like it didn’t try hard enough.
And let’s talk about the sides because they did NOT come to play.
Crinkle fries stacked like edible Jenga. Mac and cheese so creamy it should come with a warning label. And the cornbread casserole… Dear sweet baby Jesus on a smoker — that thing was not a side dish. It was a religious experience. If you don’t order it, you’re playing yourself.
By the end of the meal I wasn’t walking out — I was gently rolling toward the door like a satisfied barbecue bowling ball.
Now let’s give flowers where they belong: Lakell. This man delivered elite, Hall-of-Fame service. Constant check-ins. Refills on deck. Making sure we were good. He probably saw us demolish enough meat to feed a youth football team and still treated us with dignity.
Atmosphere? Rustic BBQ heaven. Open kitchen, warm lights, walls covered in Americana like your cool uncle’s garage if your cool uncle could actually cook.
Everything was cooked to perfection. Smoky. Juicy. Flavor punching you respectfully in the face.
Final verdict:
If you are anywhere near Cornelius stop what you’re doing. Go to Birkdale. Pretend you’re moving there. Then walk into Midwood Smokehouse and order like you just ran a marathon (even if you did not).
Relocation plans? Still under review.
Return visit to Midwood? Already emotionally committed.

I’ve been to midwood smokehouse before but this is my first time at this location. No one was at the front to sit me, but the bartender quickly noticed and left from behind the bar to get me taken care of. Blake was my server and he did a great job at taking my order and getting everything to me. It was very cold on the inside of the building but otherwise the atmosphere was nice. Thanks for having me.

If you are in the mood for phenomenal BBQ you can’t go wrong with Midwood Smokehouse. My two sons and I split the combo tray with pork, brisket, ribs and we added burnt ends. None of the meats disappointed in the least. We anticipated having food left over but we couldn’t stop eating. Mary was our server and service went beyond everyone’s expectations. You won’t regret your decision to give this place a try.

We asked for a full rack and they apparently gave us the leftovers. They only gave us pieces, most of which were dry. Their quality standards are really disappointing. We do not recommend it and would not go back. It used to be our favourite place, but the last two times the food has been terrible.

Before the sausage even touched my lips I knew from smell it was dang deliciousness, i let the flavor mingle in my mouth savoring each bite like it was my last, we ended up ordering an entire round of meats and hush puppies to go.
We were shopping at IKEA in Charlotte and somehow after searching for “BBQ near me”
this place kept popping up.

A lot of people recommended this place to us, and they weren’t wrong. We had a great evening—the waitress guided us through the menu and patiently explained the best options for us. Even though the restaurant was crowded, the food came out quickly. The brisket and pulled pork were incredible, and the beans were fantastic. We definitely want to come back soon!

the food was amazing the ribs were so good and i tried my fiancés cheese steak which was amazing too, the hush puppies were the best i’ve had in my opinion and the baked beans and mac and cheese were really good too and i loved the house pickles. i would definitely go again to try different things
