Midorie 79th is one of those places that quietly reminds you how satisfying simple sushi can be.

The concept is casual, but there is a clear attention to detail behind everything—from the carefully selected ingredients to the calm, minimal interior. The menu focuses on straightforward dishes like nigiri, temaki, and sushi bowls, letting the freshness of the fish really shine.

What I appreciate most is the balance. It’s relaxed and approachable, yet there’s a genuine respect for Japanese craft. In a city like Miami, where restaurants can sometimes feel overly flashy, Midorie offers something refreshing: clean flavors, thoughtful preparation, and a space where the food remains the center of the experience.

A wonderful spot for excellent sushi without the formality of a traditional omakase restaurant.

I recently took a client out for lunch at Midorie 79, and it turned out to be an incredible five stars! This place is a true hidden gem – unassuming from the outside but bursting with elegance once you step in. The beautiful design immediately captivates you: sleek, modern Japanese aesthetics that create an intimate yet warm, sophisticated atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for a business lunch where you want to impress without overwhelming.

We started with the Rhihaku “Wandering Poet” Junmai Ginjo sake, and the attention to detail here was impeccable. They let us choose our own sake cups from a charming selection, and the way the bottle was presented and poured into the vessel added such a thoughtful, ceremonial flair – it elevated the entire experience right from the start.

The food was nothing short of phenomenal, with everything tasting incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. We shared two bowls of miso soup that were rich and comforting since it was a chilly Miami day. The two spicy tuna rolls had a nice kick without overpowering the freshness. The negitoro roll was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, showcasing the quality of the fatty tuna. For nigiri, we went with two hamachi pieces that were silky and vibrant, a kanpachi nigiri that was crisp and clean, and the wagyu nigiri – WOW, that buttery tenderness was unreal! We rounded it out with a hamachi bowl, which was generously portioned with fresh yellowtail over rice, seasoned to perfection.

What truly made the meal unforgettable was the amazing service from our server, Yuri. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm – anticipating our needs without being intrusive, and her recommendations were spot on. It’s rare to find service this polished in such a cozy setting.

If you’re in Miami and looking for authentic Japanese cuisine with a touch of luxury, Midorie 79 is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back. I plan to try their second location in the grove next!

Walking into Midorie 79th, you immediately see the word “authentic” floating around. That’s a big promise. In Miami, everybody’s authentic until the soy sauce hits.

I ordered the Midorie bowl with salmon, tuna, blue crab, tobiko, and shiitake mushroom. On paper, that’s a disciplined lineup. No gimmicks. No spicy mayo drowning everything in sight.

The salmon was fresh and buttery. The tuna was clean, properly cut, not that sad gray tone you see when a place is cutting corners. The blue crab added a subtle sweetness that didn’t fight the fish. Tobiko brought that crisp, briny pop that makes each bite feel layered instead of flat. The shiitake mushroom grounded the bowl with an earthy depth that actually made it feel intentional, not random.

Most places mess up balance. Too much rice. Too much sauce. Too much ego. This bowl stayed composed. The fish was the star. The flavors were clean. Nothing felt heavy or overworked.

Is it Tokyo-level omakase? Let’s stay realistic. But for Miami, especially in this area, Midorie 79th delivers a bowl that respects the ingredients and doesn’t insult the word “Japanese.”

Fresh. Balanced. No chaos in a bowl. That’s a win.

I’ve driven past Wabi Sabi 100 times without realizing I’ve been missing this GEM all along. You’re instantly greeted by a warm staff with a welcoming ambiance. The decor is clean, crisp and perfectly laid out. The menu is something you may find at other high end omakase spots with a lunch friendly twist. We ordered a special, a bowl, and a chirashi omakase. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Will be back asap!

I almost want to gatekeep this place, but Wabi Sabi is too good not to share. Everything about the experience is exceptional. The green tea alone is a standout—whipped to perfection with a foamy top unlike anything I’ve ever had. The sushi? Incredibly fresh, buttery, and melts in your mouth.

One of the small but thoughtful details I loved was the soy sauce presentation—it comes with a little paintbrush so you can apply just the right amount without overpowering the fish. It’s those kinds of touches that make Wabi Sabi special. Dessert was just as impressive: a seasonal Japanese strawberry that was perfectly sweet and an unforgettable ube mochi that was unlike any I’ve tried before.

The decor is simple, with a refined Japanadi aesthetic that keeps the focus on the food. Service was also 10/10. Amazing all around—I’ll definitely be back

Pretty surprised with the reviews. A beautiful space (bright, clean lines, modern) but we were fairly underwhelmed by the food (especially for the price) and the service really lacked joy. It’s a combo of finer dining in a more casual setting, but I really don’t understand the smile-less service. The man holding the door for us on the way out actually came across as snooty.

This spot may be cozy, but it packs a punch in attitude! The vibe is unique, yet inviting, and the staff are super friendly. Their sake selection may be small, but the one they picked for us was just my style—light and refreshing. And don’t get me started on the food! As a huge fan of Otoro, I may have indulged a bit too much, but hey, no regrets! Totally recommending this place!
