My Boyfriend and I visited the bar for some drinks and small bites. Everything was fantastic! The food came out super fast and the drinks were strong (in the best way). Our bartender was the newer young blonde and she was an absolute delight. So sweet! Made our time very enjoyable and definitely will be back ! I recommend the rock shrimp as an app !

Went with a friend to get some rolls! We got the bill and it was 85 bucks. While we were talking, I accidentally put 5 bucks in as a tip (I normally tip 20% but totally miscounted). Server comes up and asks if we had an issue with the service. We said no, then she asked why we left a 5 dollar tip. I added enough for the 20% and we left.

I love Midori a lot and go there often , but after this I don’t plan on being back ever. I worked in food service for years, but I would never bother someone with asking about their tip, even if it was a mess up. It was completely unprofessional and embarrassing. It means little to them, but they lose two customers today.

We have not tried hibachi, however, the sushi is spectacular. We have visited the restaurant a few times and cannot say enough about the food and the helpful staff. We look forward to trying everything on the menu. That may take 30 more visits!

We live local, have been here many times over the years. But, this place has taken a turn.
Midori in Mount Sinai
Tldr- been here bunch of times, bad experience, owner runs away, tappenyaki chef did nothing, nobody cared.

Tonight we went to Midori in Mount Sinai to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
Tuesday, at 545pm. Party of five

We’ve been here many times over the years, and have had mostly good experiences (enough to come back)
But tonight was definitely the night to throw up the middle finger.

We get seated promptly by and older gentleman. (Later come to find out hes the owner) There is another party of 3 waiting at our table, then the chef comes out

The usual sake thing is abbreviated, and never returns. The children sake never comes out.
There is no energy, the chef cracks the eggs on the flat top, and moves on.
No throwing food in our mouths, nothing.
Guy says “excuse me, hello” every time he serves us something, we were already holding the plates out to him happily, and thanked him

Then, the power goes out at our station. The guy has to cook in the dark.
I literally hold my cell phone light so the guy could cook.

We get our meals, the filet that was supposed to be medium rare, is dry and obviously over cooked.

Then, he cleans the grill, Shoves a less than cleverly disguised tip bucket with balloons at our faces. Then leaves.
No birthday stuff, no throwing food, no sake.
The other chef is doing the whole thing, people are whooping and clapping, as you do when you are have a good time.
So my wife says something to the waitress.

Then, the owner comes to me and says “its busy, you know”

It’s Tuesday night, and there are 4 tables. But our guy, now goes into the back room and does the performance of a lifetime for them, balloon hats for all the adults, sake squirting abounds, laughs, clapping- all of it.

I decided then that I would ask for the good chef name to request at another time, but what happens next straight rockets this place into never again territory.

The wait staff is looking from the kitchen, the waitress comes over and presents us with the check. No comp, nothing offered
My wife, pissed mentioned that her food wasn’t even eaten. The waitress wants it so she can prove to her boss that there were issues. The owner who came out and half-assed explained there were issues, now wants proof there was an issue.

It ends with 1 compd meal on the check. The food- lack luster
The entertainment (the reason you go to these places) non existent.

Im honestly disappointed that we were treated like this, and whatever you’re thinking- it didnt happen. We didn’t do anything that pisses restaurants off. No screaming kids, no demands, no complaints until it sucked. And nobody gave a shit.

If you made it to the end, avoid this place.

Midori Sushi and Steakhouse – Mount Sinai, NY

Midori Sushi and Steakhouse never disappoints! The fish is absolutely the freshest around—you can taste the quality in every bite. Whether I order delivery or pick up, the artistry in their dishes, the impeccable presentation, and their warm hospitality always stand out. Consistently delicious, beautifully prepared and reliably top-notch. A true gem in Mount Sinai!

Midori Sushi is hands-down one of our favorite spots! The service is always incredible—Lee and Candace go above and beyond every time we visit. They’re friendly, attentive, and truly make you feel welcome.

As for the food, it never disappoints. We always get the Sushi for Two—super fresh and beautifully presented. The Spicy Maki Combo is another favorite, packed with flavor. And when we’re in the mood for something warm and comforting, the Nabeyaki Udon Soup hits the spot every time.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great sushi and even better service!

Worst experience. Hibachi chef did absolutely nothing. No throwing the food, no sake, no games, no show. Was CLEARLY rushing. Then the power goes out halfway through. We’re using a flashlight so this guy can cook. Then he threw a tip jar in our face and left. Owner came over and said “he’s busy” It was a Tuesday night. Owner KNEW there was an issue and did NOTHING. He knew we were pissed and didn’t give any Fs. Never again.

Exact experience for our daughter’s birthday as the review below. Hibachi chef did nothing you would expect when going to a hibachi restaurant. Have frequented this restaurant for years but it’s gone downhill, we won’t be back or getting weekly take out anymore.
