We stopped by Midnight Oil tonight for their opening, and it was an awesome experience from start to finish. You can immediately tell a lot of care went into both the food and the overall vibe of the place.
We tried slices of the cheese, buffalo, and sweet heat pizzas, and every one of them was excellent. The crust really stood out—perfectly cooked with a great crunch, not overdone, not floppy. The toppings were loaded with flavor, balanced really well, and tasted fresh. Each slice felt distinct, not just the same base with a different sauce slapped on, which we loved.
We grabbed a couple of beers and hung out for a bit, and the atmosphere made it even better. It has that relaxed, neighborhood spot feel—somewhere you could easily come back to with friends, stay a while, and enjoy good food without feeling rushed.
For an opening night, everything felt dialed in. Great food, solid drinks, and a welcoming environment. If this is how Midnight Oil is starting out, it’s going to be a go-to spot in Donelson for sure. We’ll absolutely be back again (and soon).

Huge and delicious pizza! We got the buffalo chicken and the flavor is amazing! Please never change anything about it! Love the ranch too! We ordered take out and I was asked by every employee if I’d been helped. Very much a bar like atmosphere with all high top tables so having little ones, we made the best choice to pick up instead of staying to eat. Nonetheless, it didn’t disappoint!

Brand new, second day, they say… it’s all about the pizza and drinks. The pizza was on point, delicious thin New York style, flavorful sauce. I had the Sweet Heat slice, a huge slice for $4.75, and a Coke Zero (no Diet Coke). All seating is at the bar or high-top tables. Great music, friendly service, no-nonsense vibe. I will be back.

First off, Pizza is fantastic. 10/10. So happy to have this in the neighborhood. Feels like a great place to grab a beer and a slice at the bar or sit down at the table. Staff were friendly. Definitely will be back!

The food is wonderful. I think it’s worth noting they do not allow you to move tables together so you can’t comfortably sit more than 4 people together. They also only have high top tables and do not have high chairs so I wouldn’t consider it family friendly for dine-in. Depending on the size of our group in the future we’ll only consider going back for take out

Used to drive across town to have midnight oil, so happy to have them in Donelson now! Sweet heat pie is iconic, cheesy breadsticks are a perfect appetizer.

I cannot recommend this place if you are gluten free. While they do have a gluten free crust that is decent, it is absolutely not worth the price. The regular pizzas are comically huge and worth the $25 but the gluten free crust is maybe 1/3 of the size (it’s personal size) and they charge you the same amount. This is not affordable and their pricing needs to be reconsidered for the gluten free crust. I tried to address it with the staff and they said they have to keep it that expensive since the crust they buy is so expensive. Sad to say I won’t be returning due to the cost. There is cheaper and larger gluten free crust just down the road for a better experience.
