Such a nice place with great view and tasty food!
For a restaurant in a tourist spot, i didn’t have much expectation.
But it turns pretty nice!
We loved everything! ( maybe except for the crab bisque that day… )
But still very positive! A must visit!

The she crab soup was the best part. The chicken was overcooked. Overall not worth the price, but if you’re already at the location it is far better than fast food.

Dinner was preset menu from Garden of Lights event in January (2026). Started off with She Crab soup which was luke warm as if it was sitting under heat lamp & it was very salty. Main meal was shrimp & grits which was the worst I’ve had in my life & I’ve had shrimp & grits in numerous places, my mom’s shrimp & grits is a million times better. I love shrimp & grits so I order it everywhere I go BUT this one – It had no flavor what so ever, the onions in it were not cooked all the way, the shrimp probably wasn’t either & it also had no flavor. Years ago I had shrimp & grits here & it tasted great, this shrimp & grits was totally different with zero taste I was highly disappointed. I was not expecting it to taste like grits with flavorless sauce, crunchy Onions, rubbery flavorless shrimp with cherry tomatoes. I couldn’t get over how bad the shrimp & grits was. When the waitress asked how the food was I wanted to say I wish I hadn’t ordered this however my fiance told me to “be nice”. I am nice I just wanted to be honest (in a nice way)

The dessert was chocolate budino, it was basically a bowl of thick chocolate with a dab of whip cream on top & a raspberry nothing spectacular, like a chocolate bar in a bowl it needed something else to balance out all the chocolate. The atmosphere was nice but the food was disappointing more especially for the price. When I learned there were food trucks at the event I wish we just ate from there. No offense to the cook there just my honest opinion of my meal. …the presentation of the food gets 5 stars though.

The atmosphere and service were unbeatable. It was way to fancy for my fiance and I but it was good to splurge a bit. The staff is super nice and helpful. Unfortunately they don’t adjust plates (changing sides) unless you have an allergy. The building is beautiful and very historic. The price was pretty high though for the size of the portions.

Staff from beginning to end were perfect. On top of everything you need before you had a chance to ask.
We started with the pork belly which was a smaller single piece plated beautifully with a variety of flavors perfectly blended. Highly recommend.
I personally didn’t care for the shrimp and grits only due to it being a tomato sauce. My husband loved it however.
The steak special was surprisingly good. We come from a house that we primarily only smoke steaks due to flavor. We have been disappointed with steaks we’ve had at every restaurant until this one. It was very good and perfectly cooked.

Wow! Our server mentioned they had a new head chef and were trying out some new dishes and wow! is all I can come up with. Service was polite, helpful and thoughtful and the food was amazing! This was quite possibly the best dining experience I’ve had, I’ll definitely be returning and likely bring more people. I tried the oysters, the she-crab soup, the shrimp and grits and the chicken… every bite was amazing.

This restaurant was an absolute delight from start to finish. The standout dish for me was the she-crab soup, which truly lives up to its legendary reputation. Rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor, it’s the kind of dish you’ll find yourself dreaming about long after your visit. Another highlight was the shrimp and grits—a Southern classic done to perfection. The grits were buttery and smooth, and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of shrimp, each one cooked just right and infused with delicious seasoning.

The drinks were also a highlight. I ordered the iced tea, and I can confidently say it was the best I’ve had in a very long time, refreshing, and a wonderful complement to the meal. It’s the small details like this that set a restaurant apart.

On top of the incredible food, the atmosphere and service made the experience even better. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about ensuring every guest had a great time. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, making it the kind of place where you feel comfortable lingering over your meal.

It’s rare to find a restaurant where every element exceeds your expectations, but this one does just that. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual lunch or a special evening out, you won’t be disappointed. I’ll absolutely be returning soon to explore more of the menu and enjoy another bowl of that unforgettable she-crab soup!” from start to finish. Certainly not as well known as some of Charleston downtown restaurants but certainly a hidden gem. Located on the historic grounds of Middleton Plantation, this restaurant offers tasty creative dining in a comfortable setting. We attended on one of their Garden Lights events where for a $65 price Fixe you are treated to a delicious 3 course dinner then stroll through the extensive colorfully lit gardens. My wife and I enjoyed appetizers of fried oysters and winter salad, short ribs and flounder followed by crème brûlée and huckleberry pie. Well prepared, well presented and well worth the price. Our waiter Ryan was excellent with his service and insight.

20 years in the lowcountry and how have I missed Middleton’s restaurant? We will absolutely be back! We went for Valentine’s dinner and everything was perfect! Delicious, perfectly cooked flounder, short ribs, tomato pie, soups… Service was impeccable and the atmosphere is beautiful.

Had a delicious and hearty lunch here while touring Middleton Place and would highly recommend it! Loved the ambience and view with both indoor and outdoor dining options. The food was delicious and the service was great as well. Really enjoyed the lunch buffet options, especially the pecan smoked pulled pork, pecan pie and southern specials (collard greens and hoppin johns). The salad and vegetables were so fresh too!
