Truly a fun experience in the middle of nowhere Nevada. If you are traveling the lonely road (Hwy 50) it is a must-stop.
We were greeted and seated by a very kind man who took his time to answer our questions and point out items of interest.
We ordered the Monster Burger and it was phenomenal in both presentation and taste. That’s a lot of burger, even when split between two people. We took leftovers with us. The fries are really good too, very crispy.
The decor was fun too.

The burgers and fries are really good, and the place has such a cool atmosphere. The staff a very friendly and helpful. I attempted the Middlegate Monster. It was delicious but I couldn’t beat it. Worth the drive out there!!

This is just like a scene out of an old western movie! Its just perfect! The food was great as was the service. The gas pumps were just fantastic. You have to take a picture of what you pump and the. go to the bar to show the bartender and pay. Its just all amazing. There are cows across the street and the sunsets there are definitely worth it. There is a motel attached. Dated but again just right out of an old western. Completely glad I stopped!

The monster may look cute. Along the Loneliest Hwy in America, Hwy 50, lies Middlegate Station. We watched a YouTube video on this cafe/bar and decided to stop by and try the Monster Burger challenge on our trip from Utah across Nevada. It’s a big boy! We technically did not partake in the challenge because we split the meal. However, about 20% of the challengers complete it and earn a shirt. The food was great. I would’ve given an extra star for service, but the burger took them 50 minutes to bring to us. I almost think they lost track of our order. Here’s what you need to know about the size of this monstrous burger. It has (4) 1/3 lbs beef patties, multiple layers of buns, many pickles, many tomatoes, gobs of lettuce, and the condiments that make a monster face. The meat itself is over 1.5 lbs. The burger with the fries will bring the total weight to over 4 lbs. My wife and I, together, couldn’t finish the beast.
I understand that camping here is free and showers are just $2.00. You’ll notice through my photos that Middlegate has gasoline and diesel fuel; no digital gasoline pumps but the ones that I remember as a kid.

Everyone was welcoming and polite. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. My burger was delicious! It was big, tender, and made well/not messy. They care about the food they serve. Fries were also good. It’s clean in there. They have ice, a mini mart, and entertainment. I got some ice, six postcards, and my burger and fries and it was about $22. Paul was great on the guitar and has a good voice. Plays great songs, lots of 70’s and 80’s rock. I’d stop again!
