The vibe is warm and lively without feeling pretentious. We ordered the short rib lasagna as an appetizer even though it’s technically an entrée, and it was loaded with meat and packed with flavor. The mussels and grilled bread were unreal, the arancini perfectly crisp, and the pasta with slow-braised meat sauce was the star of the night. Even the focaccia was next level.
Great food, great energy, and thoughtful service. One of the best Italian spots in Boston. We’ll definitely be back.
Food: 3/5. We got the crispy chicken sandwich and the burrata sandwich which were both quite tasty. The flavors complemented each other well and the salad greens were great. The Shirley Temple was disappointing, however. The grenadine was too much, the ginger ale flavor nearly nonexistent, and the fizz hardly there. There was also an abnormally tremendous amount of ice, as seen in the photo, even though the presentation was good. In the MIDA Slam breakfast plate, the eggs were too milky and tasted odd, but everything else was good. The bread that came with it was just the free appetizer bread but toasted.
Service: 2/5. Our server was initially nice and attentive. However, when it came time for our bill, we asked her if she could split the bill by our three orders. In response, she rolled her eyes and had an unlikable tone. I understand it is semi-inconvenient, but we are paying and tipping for her service. I also understand if it was peak and busy, but there was literally only one other party there, a group of 3. The busser was also the one to bring out our food so I feel as though it wasn’t too much to ask? I also didn’t think it would impact her tip because we would still be paying the same tip total as if it was a combined bill. And as we were leaving, she acted disinterested in our departure and didn’t even acknowledge us, despite the fact the bar she was wiping glasses at being directly in front of the door. Again, not expecting an eager farewell, but I feel as though it is more just human decency, especially when it is not busy. The only reason I gave a 2/5 instead of a 1/5 is that the busser was sweet and kind.
Atmosphere: 5/5. The wall length windows make it so nice for the sun to shine through and people watch. It was very aesthetic and perfect for a Sunday brunch vibe, and I can see how it can be just as aesthetic and popular for dinner.
Overall, I think it is a solid spot for brunch and/or dinner! Just wish the service was better.
Complimentary bread and olive oil which is always a great touch.
Duck wings (comes with 3) were big and super tasty – have an Indian/asian vibe. Really saucy but good.
Gnocchi was very light but the sauce was lacking something. Overall good not great.
Caesar salad was standard for a Caesar but tasted great and they accommodated adding chicken which was appreciated.
Tiramisu was delicious – really glad we ordered it
For the pasta course, I chose the rock shrimp carbonara — a dish that exceeded expectations. The shrimp were fresh, perfectly seasoned, and complemented beautifully by a luscious sauce enriched with egg yolk, adding depth and silkiness to every bite.
Dessert was an absolute highlight. The tiramisu here is not to be missed — it’s refined and elevated far beyond the standard version found elsewhere. The espresso flavor was bold yet harmonious, bringing out the best in the mascarpone and giving the dish a wonderful lift to finish the meal on a high note.
Overall, MIDA delivers an exceptional dining experience with each dish executed with precision and care. From start to finish, it’s a restaurant that blends warmth, sophistication, and consistently excellent food. Highly recommended.
The food is ok.
The asked to get our entire order at once so that they could course the meal, but then you wait for quite a while for our appetizer, and 2 seconds into eating that our entree comes.. then our side arrives when we are almost done eating. Our server at the bar made eye contact many times but then ignored us. Didn’t ask if we wanted another beverage until we were almost done eating.
