Passing through. I thought this would be a great place for authentic Mexican food.
Oh boy, I can ownesly say that I had better. The food was bland and not very good.
The “flautas” appeared to be wrapped in corn like a stuffed tamales, not rolled in a corn tortillas. Tacos had no flavor. The chicken quesadilla was made and covered with some sort of gravy. Who does that!?
I was very disappointed. Not very good at all.

Given the high ratings, I expected more. Given 6 tacos and 2 sodas were $30, I really expected more. The tacos were ok. Steak was really dry/tough. Chicken was dry. That said, it has potential. The service was good and it is authentic. Just not as good as I wanted/expected…

Food is always fresh and tasty. Best Mexican cuisine in the area. It’s in a market place, so atmosphere is busy.

I ordered 3 beef tongue tacos and a salad to go. Both were very disappointing. For example the tacos were small with just tongue, cilantro and onion on a soft shell. That’s it – no salsa, lettuce, sour cream. Nothing!

Amazing food, great prices. Lots of choices you can’t find at the chain Mexican restaurants. My son has celiac disease and cannot eat gluten, or even food cross-contaminated with gluten. Not only do they have extensive gluten-free options, but their flour tortillas are made in a completely separate area from the main kitchen, so I don’t have to worry about him getting accidentally glutened. It’s great to have a place to go out to eat with my son, as we don’t have many options in the area where we can eat worry-free. I also love that they use paper containers and bags for take-out!!!

I love the beef tongue tacos. Tender and SO flavourful. Dont let the “tongue” scare you away from adventurous eating!

I’ve seen this spot on so many lists as one of the best taco places in or around the city, so I figured I’d try it out while I was at the market.
I stood at the counter for 3 minutes without being acknowledged, while there were 4 employees standing there. No one said hello, and quite honestly seemed bothered that I was there. The food was bland. I thought the sauces weren’t flavorful either. It wasn’t horrible, but I was expecting to be blown away since I’ve seen this place get rave reviews…but I suppose it’s catered to the palates of the elderly Americans who can’t handle authentic ethnic flavors.
It was overall just meh. Go across the river and get food from the numerous authentic spots downtown instead

Google “midatate tacos inspection report” to read about the long long list of infractions found during a recent health inspector visit from the state. It ain’t pretty. I won’t eat here again, too scared to get sick from improperly prepared and stored food in a dirty, roach infested “restaurant”!

We tried this place today. We had the shrimp tacos and pork tacos, both dishes were loaded with shrimp and pork. We also had a side of rice. I like that they have a condiments bar, that includes pico, onions, lime, jalapeños(sweet), salsa Verde, and other cremas. The food was delicious. We definitely plan to return and try the other foods.
