Just excellent. My fiancée got quite possibly the largest and well crafted Bloody Mary in all of Madison. I got a delicious apple cider bourbon.

The bar is cozy, well decorated, and welcoming. Stop in and have a drink, I double dog dare you.

This is such am awesome place, you have the bar area, the back room area and the patio! We chose the patio. This place is so relaxing! I love the atmosphere! I’m so relaxed and the drinks go down easy, the food is so hot, and delicious! Sorry, I could not help taking a bite! Our server was Jess or Jessica and she is so great and down to earth! I would recommend this place every day! Stopping here before a concert at Atwood Music Hall! Very short walk from here! Plenty of off street parking for the restaurant.

The first time I came into Mickey’s I was in awe of the gorgeous lighting and decor. I sat at a table with a friend, and had food that was far too good and far too cheap to be as close to me as it is! My first experience left me beyond excited to visit again and again.

I returned a month or so later with another friend, this time we sat at the bar. My friend and I are in our early 20’s, so when we were promptly ID’d it wasn’t a surprise in the slightest. My friend handed over her ID, and I explained that I wasn’t planning on drinking and that we were here for a meal and conversation. That was apparently an issue for the bartender. Had they asked to see my ID regardless, I would’ve happily provided it. They did not.

I have never had this problem at other establishments. I’ve bartended, I don’t nurse the same drink for an hour and I try my hardest to tip as well as I can. The service industry can be hard!

From the moment we walked in the door, the bartender seemed to not like our presence. They were smiley and talkative with every customer but my friend and myself. Any time we attempted to make conversation we were promptly shut down. The other customers were paying more attention to what we were saying than the bartender we were speaking to! It got to the point where we had to box up our food and find another place to chat. I’ve never felt worse “get out!” vibes from a bartender before, and yet we still tipped generously. I know that sometimes younger folks aren’t the best about tips, so I try and be very good about it.

I’ve been dying to stop in again and try and put the experience behind me. The lamps alone are enough to make me come back.

Seriously though, the food is downright amazing! If you’re looking for a cozy eclectic joint, this is it!

This is a neighborhood corner tavern on Willy St that features a bar up front and small dining spaces in an attached house. I have not had much beyond a burger and fries, but it was very good and the prices are reasonable. My friends and I typically meet for drinks, and Mickey’s offers a wide and interesting variety. It’s a comfortable hang with nice servers and there’s usually a little live music act in the corner or on the patio in summer. Parking around that area is challenging, though, so plan accordingly

Just came across a disgruntled employees obvious BS post on reddit r/madisonwi so watch out for reviews posted at around the same time as this. BUT seeing that ridiculous post reminded me that I love this place and have literally always had a pleasant experience. Just in the past year I’ve been quite a few times and every staff member I’ve interacted with was attentive and a pleasure to be served by and the food was great too.

Mickey’s Tavern is a small bar/pub/tavern on Williamson Street on the corner of Thornton Ave.
The place gives off an old school pub vibe, but it’s also clean and up to date.
I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in, but the bartender greeted me immediately and came over to take my drink order. He was back shortly to take my food order. I felt well taken care of.
I wound up having the Mickey Burger which includes fried onion strings. I also substituted fries for the chips which come with it for $2.00.
I ordered the burger medium rare, and it arrived with the correct amount of pink in the middle. The fries were fresh and hot, which matters a lot.
The bartender refilled my soda without having to be waved down, which is a sign of excellent service.
Overall I found Mickey’s to be excellent, both for the food and the service. If I was forced to give a criticism I would have to say that the burger could have had a little more crust on it.
Mickey’s does have a small parking lot on the side which seems to fit about 7 or 8 cars. You do have to back out onto Williamson Street when you leave, but it’s not a busy section of the road, so you don’t have to wait too long.
I highly recommend this place.

We came in for lunch on Christmas Eve. There were very festive decorations and music playing softly. The holiday drinks were on point. All three of us enjoyed our meals. The bartender was very busy but kept the drinks flowing nicely. Great experience.

Had brunch/lunch here on several occasions and it is always solid. Service is mostly friendly, and rather quick even when busy. It is a fun atmosphere that can be loud at times when larger groups take up a room, but usually it is quiet enough for a conversation.
Really enjoy this spot and understand why it’s a local staple in the Marion area.
