This was my first visit to Michael’s Seafood! We are regular visitors of Carolina Beach and every time I’ve been by, it’s always been packed! We stopped by on a Friday night (the day after Christmas) and it wasn’t crowded. My partner and I sat by the bar. Great vibe and service! Had a beer while we reviewed the menu. We ordered the crab dip, chopped salads and shared the seafood lasagna. We enjoyed our meal! Everything was incredibly delicious! We ended up coming back on Sunday for a drink and more crab dip. Unfortunately they had not made any crab dip yet so we shared the sampler. The crab cakes & aioli were good. The tempura shrimp was soggy on one side and the scallops could have been cooked a tad longer. We will be back in April to celebrate my birthday at the beach plus visit Michael’s for another meal!

Love, trying out what people say are the best seafood places in the area and I have to say this place did not disappoint! Sat at the bar, Courtney was my server and had wonderful knowledge of the menu and gave great recommendations. Nothing disappointed and everything we had is easily top. Chowder was amazing! Crabcakes, awesome, coleslaw top-notch! A Caesar salad with their fresh seafood salad on top absolutely incredible. Price point amazing and Thursday they have half-price appetizers. Bottom line, I rate their chowder among the best in the country! Don’t miss this place. If you are in the vicinity of any of the beaches in the Wilmington, North Carolina area!

Had a really nice time at this establishment. My wife and I had a great time. The food was great. We both took home some leftovers. They actually opened up early on the Sunday after Memorial Day which is when we went there. I believe they opened at 11A. Food was great along with the service. Would definitely try again the next time we head to Carolina beach.
For the appetizer we tried the sampler. The chowder was great as well.

We live 2 hours away and will make that drive to eate at Michael’s. This is by far the best seafood chowder I have ever eaten. If you are in the Wilmington area and you haven’t been there, well, you are just missing a great meal.

Food and atmosphere and service were great. But $8.00 for hush puppies!! Was under the impression this condiment was complementary (as most restaurants). They were tasty… but WAY overpriced ☹️. Especially after 21.00 for the shrimp

We tried this place for dinner. The service was friendly, and the food…was ok. The baked Mac and cheese was great, as were the cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The issue? The fresh fish was not very good, unfortunately. My wife’s fish was dry & overcooked. As for mine, one side was burned while the other wasn’t cooked. Messing up on the sides is one thing, but the main dishes? That’s another. I don’t know if they had an inexperienced chef that night or what, but for that price, I hoped for better.

We stopped in last night for dinner and the restaurant was very crowded. The server told us that the wait time was 45 minutes which we agreed to wait. Once seated, the server quickly took our drink orders and 10 minutes later he returned for our food order which took about 20 minutes to arrive. My wife had the crabcakes dinner and I had the pork tenderloin dinner. The pork was overcooked and very dry and it was served with smashed red potatoes and carrots. The price was reasonable, but the food was unimpressive, I’m not being mean just stating a fact. I probably would not return.

Went there because of the reviews. Server was Maddie (she was phenomenal), she had great suggestions which was helpful for me to make a decision because EVERYTHING on the menu was calling my name. I ordered the crab dip and shrimp-n-grits. I do not regret ordering these dishes.

This was our first time going to Michael’s and drove almost an hour. The atmosphere was wonderful! Very nice set up. Waiter was wonderful!
I ordered the shrimp and grits, side Ceaser salad the entree was very good! My husband ordered the Reef n Beef (includes a choice of 2 seafood options and a cut of meat). He chose snow crab legs, sautéed shrimp and a filet. The seafood was good, the meat was just okay (we’ve had much better).
Then we get our bill…. I noticed a separate charge for 1/2 snow crab legs (this was one of the options listed under the Reef & Beef). When i questioned the waiter about it, he went to the manager and came back stating that he didnt know but the crab legs were an upcharge.
I then went to the manager showing her on their menu that the snow crab legs were listed as a choice for the Reef & Beef. All she said was that it is noted “market price” she TOTALLY ignored the fact that I was asking why we were charged for the crab legs when it was a choice in the Reef n Beef. Rather than cause a scene, we left and I can PROMISE you we will NOT be back!!!
So.. be warned…. double check when you order that there are no hidden “uncharged items”
VERY DISAPPOINTED PATRON!!!

Michael’s Seafood Restaurant is one of those places that just feels like a dependable coastal staple the second you walk in. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming—perfect for a laid-back dinner after a long day or an easy night out with family. The menu has a lot of variety, so whether you’re in the mood for something fried and classic or something lighter and grilled, there’s plenty to choose from.

We started with an appetizer to share, and it came out hot, crisp, and right on time. For the main meal, the seafood tasted fresh and was cooked the way it should be—tender, flavorful, and not overdone. Portions were generous without feeling wasteful, and the sides complemented everything well. I also appreciated that the seasoning wasn’t overly heavy; you could actually taste the seafood.

Service was a highlight. Our server was friendly, checked in at the right moments, and kept drinks refilled without hovering. Even when it got busier, the staff stayed calm and kept things moving.

Prices felt fair for the portion size and quality, and the overall experience was consistent from start to finish. If you’re looking for a straightforward seafood spot with solid food, good energy, and staff that actually seem to care, Michael’s Seafood Restaurant is worth a stop. I’ll definitely be back to try a couple more items off the menu.
