I love Michael’s Pizza on MadisonStreet for takeout. This is where I can get one of the few pizzas that won’t make me feel sick after eating it. While it’s not as good as I remember the Black Horse pizza tastes or even Old Chicago, it’s solid take home fare. The servers don’t rush, so it takes time to be served. However, everyone is polite. While the atmosphere doesn’t stand up to the other local establishments mentioned above, it is clean, and the prices are competitive. I recommend it. I’ve both dined in and taken out, but the review question below allows only one answer.

We have been longtime customers of Michael’s, but not anymore. I believe they have either changed owners or they just don’t care anymore. For starters, they upgraded their computer systems and “lost” all the points their loyal customers earned being…loyal. Then today, we ordered a half veggie, half deluxe pizza that was supposed to have beef. We got just a sprinkling of whatever it was, the green peppers were still crisp, and the crust doughy. Nothing worse than an undercooked pizza. Also, we asked for extra sauce. Nope – awful, the whole pie. We’re done and will take our loyalty elsewhere.

Michaels is absolutely, top of their game… kudos!!! The pizza is fresh made, delicious. Customer service is not dead… The young woman who handles our transaction was amazing, and reminded me of how food service used to be. Finally, they have great ice cream (made there) and really affordable. It is a 20 minute drive from my house to Michael’s and I will continue to make it every time. It was my first time going, and I had no idea what to get. I go in, and no one behind the register. After maybe 3 minutes someone comes out. I wasn’t mad, they were probably busy, but after settling on a small, and paying $20. I can’t recommend this place. Very prices for little to nothing. I got a small deluxe and barely got any meat, all veggies. You really don’t get what you pay for. I wouldn’t mind the price If it was actually good. The pizza was ready pretty fast, I will give them that. With the waiting after walking in, to overpriced pizza that didn’t fit the description, it’s Hard to recommend.

Polite and friendly staff. It’s not overly busy or crowded. When we went there wasn’t anyone else there at all. It’s relatively cleaner than most other establishments. The food is spectacular. They bring it to the table basically piping hot or cold depending on what you get that’s supposed to be hot or cold. The side caesar salad is plain but no so much that it’s boring. It was delicious. Whatever you come for, it is certainly worth it. It’s certainly a hidden gem. Better than any of the large “pizza” chains.
