We traveled from Milwaukee, WI to celebrate a birthday at Michael Jordan’s Steak House Chicago, and the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We were informed that bringing our own cake would cost $6 per person, which felt unreasonable. The restaurant was so dimly lit that our server had to use his phone flashlight for us to see the menu.

We were offered tap or spring water and chose spring, unaware that it was $12 per bottle. Additional bottles were placed on the table and opened without our consent, leaving us no choice but to pay for them. One guest ordered a steak with a lobster tail, and the lobster tail never came. We were also charged $80 for a bottle of wine that costs around $13 retail. Even simple requests like a to‑go box required multiple reminders.

Our total bill came to $700. Valet parking was $30. Two of us used valet, while the others had to walk a long distance to their car in the freezing, windy Chicago weather in heels which added unnecessary discomfort to an already disappointing evening.

The atmosphere itself is beautiful, and the birthday touches (card, poster, dessert) were thoughtful, though the dessert was overly rich. My filet mignon and miso mushrooms were okay, but not worth the $90 price tag considering the overall service issues.

Nice scenery, but the hidden charges, mistakes, and parking frustrations made this a one‑time visit for me.

Great bday experience for our son!

My thanks first goes to Jorge Vasquez. I found his email on these reviews and contacted him in advance to make arrangements for the birthday dinner. He made sure that there was a card, poster, and free dessert available for us – super kind.

Our hostess Claudia was very friendly and helpful as well.

Food was excellent. The garlic bread (complimentary if signing up for a free membership online in advance) and the bacon starters were both really delicious – would get both again. My son had the wagyu and I the ribeye and both were great. The Mac and cheese as well as the mashed potatoes were huge portions and tasty – one side would definitely have been enough for two people. The star of the entrees was actually the short rib pasta – probably the best restaurant pasta I have ever had in my life.

The wine and espresso martini were welcome compliments to the meal.

This was an expensive outing of course but definitely a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday event!

The steakhouse is a little nugget of heaven, from the gold lighting and great dynamic contrast to the red seats that inspire true passion and glory—nothing like real blood-red leather in play. Excellent service and a great hostess at the front—very friendly, inviting, and jolly. You can feel the passion in this place. Even with the achievements of the past, the present still delivers a great performance. Definitely a must when visiting Chicago—it really pulls at your heart. It’s so cool to see someone give back to their local hometown and have a little treasure like this to visit.

I had one of Michael Jordan’s favorite steaks—the Delmonico, medium. It had a nice blackened crust, super juicy with a great buttery, fatty flavor. Absolute heaven. I had the truffle fries and the buttered mashed potatoes—simple, sweet, delicious, and wholesome.

Well, cheers to number 23. It’s always cool to see someone play with that kind of joy and love for the game. I love watching Jordan dunk with his tongue out—that’s true passion ❤️

And the 23-layer chocolate cake really made the flight to Chicago worth it. Sitting there for 6 hours and 4 minutes, flying Frontier, stopping in Phoenix, then flying from Phoenix to Chicago—it’s all been erased. I don’t even remember the flight. That’s how good the chocolate cake is.

As far as the cheesecake, very tender. It has a nice, smooth, sweet, and tart body to it—very dynamic and distinctive, not like a classic cheesecake. The graham cracker crust has a good oil to it; it’s nice, moist, and wet. The chocolate went right to my head, which it usually does, and now I am complete inside……

I’m fat and happy…

Super late for this review. But we went for sweetest day. It was a little busy but nothing crazy. We did have a reservation. We got caught in crazy city traffic and they still acomidated us.

But the service was exceptional as always. The food was cooked to our liking and everything was full of flavor. Please try this red wine. It use to be called ( la mariposa) it will not disappoint. It is on the sweater side.

Fantastic experience.

I’ve lived here for a year now and feel like I’ve tried just about every steakhouse in the city. This spot was always near the bottom of my list because I assumed it would be too touristy, but it turned out to be the complete opposite.

Our server, Elias, was outstanding—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The seating was excellent, the music was at the perfect volume, and the atmosphere struck a great balance between lively and comfortable. The food was A1 and cooked exactly the way we requested.

I’ll absolutely be coming back multiple times in the future.

Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse! Our server Jon Michael was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and full of fun MJ facts that made our visit extra special.

We tried the 3-course lunch menu along with a Purple Corvette cocktail and a beer flight. Everything was delicious!

I had the roasted tomato soup, Faroe Island salmon, and chocolate parfait, while my husband enjoyed the MJ’s Steakhouse cheeseburger, Caesar salad, and cheese course. The portions were perfect — we left completely satisfied but not overly full. Ingredients tasted fresh and the flavors were well-balanced. Compliments to the chef!

A fun fact we learned: if a menu item has an “M” next to it, it’s one of MJ’s personal favorites and cannot be removed from the menu — even as the menu changes seasonally.

We also geeked out over all the Michael Jordan memorabilia displayed throughout the restaurant — a must-see for any basketball or MJ fan.

Overall, the experience was top-tier from start to finish. Highly recommend the 3-course lunch if you’re looking for a well-rounded and memorable meal!

This is more of a low quality diner than a steakhouse. I have been here for drinks 6-7 years ago, So we decided to give it a try yesterday since we wanted to have good steak.

Let me start with the ambiance, It felt like we were transported back to the 90s with very old furniture, mediocre set up, and bad lighting.

Now to the food. We ordered meatballs, they were served to us with absolutely zero seasoning, not even salt. I was so in disbelief that I had my husband try it too to ensure I was not hallucinating. He confirmed that. The bread served with the meatballs was also inedible and was obviously a few days old.

I ordered their burger, which was tasteless and very greasy but not the good kind of greasy. Their fries smelled like they were fried in old oil as well.

The filet mignon my husband ordered was tasty and acceptable especially given the very expensive price. However, the server was unprofessional. When my husband asked how she would recommend they make his steak which is a very common sought after recommendation at renowned steakhouses, she laughed at him and told him “However you like it” with shrug. He had to explain why he asked his question. But obviously she was not properly trained. Again felt like we were sitting at a small town diner (and not the good kind).

We definitely won’t be coming back after this disappointing dining experience.

We had high hopes for this restaurant and secretly hoped to spot Michael Jordan, but that’s just the joking part! The food was okay but not amazing; nothing really stood out. The service was quite slow, though our waiter was very nice and friendly. It just took a long time for him to come back to our table each time.

On the bright side, I really liked the entrance and the staircase leading up to the restaurant, it gives a nice first impression. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not quite what we expected.

Everything was Amazing. Steaks were Perfect. Oysters were Fresh. Bacon slices are a must. My Favorite was the Aged Delmonico. Mushrooms were very flavorful, and the trio potatoes were just enough for every taste bud. Desserts were Great.

I was on the fence about this place but David the server was amazing.. his recommendation was spot on and I left so satisfied and grateful!

AMBIANCE WAS impeccable. Service was amazing and as a non Chicago native I was happy to have him navigate the menu so well. From the suggestion of the signature Delmonico to Four Mac and cheese.. I left more than satisfied and definitely coming back with friends and! 10/10… thank you David! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
