We recently ordered takeout from Michael Asian Cuisine (a small Vietnamese restaurant tucked away in a strip plaza), and it turned out to be one of the best dining surprises we’ve had in a long time. From the outside, you might not think twice about stopping in, but once you try the food, you’ll realize what a hidden gem this place truly is.
I ordered the shrimp and chicken teriyaki, and it was absolutely fantastic. The shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked, while the chicken was tender and flavorful. The teriyaki glaze had the perfect balance of sweetness and savory depth, and everything tasted fresh rather than overly heavy or greasy like you sometimes get with takeout. It was so satisfying and really well prepared.
My partner ordered the steak and meatball pho soup, and that dish was just as impressive. The broth was rich, aromatic, and clearly simmered with care—it had that deep, authentic flavor that only comes from time and tradition. The steak slices were tender, the meatballs hearty, and the noodles cooked to the perfect texture. Even as a takeout order, it arrived with all the traditional toppings and condiments, which made it feel like a full restaurant experience at home.

I looked up restaurants in Tavares with high Google ratings for Asian cuisine, and Michael’s Asian Cuisine stood out. Although the shopping center it’s located in may seem a bit questionable due to some closed businesses, don’t let that deter you from visiting this gem for lunch or dinner. Michael’s wife, Angel, provided exceptional service and really made us feel welcome. Michael, the owner and chef, personally came out to meet us—his wonderful personality and genuine passion for cooking truly shine through. The food here is undoubtedly five-star, cooked to perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and we will certainly be back!

Stopped in mid Saturday afternoon for lunch. The plaza it is located in was not impressive but we thought let’s look inside. The restaurant was bright, cheery and clean. We ordered an appetizer of teriyaki chicken wings along with our entrees

Excellent food, service and prices. The in house spicy sauce is so amazing. Tried the P7 Pho, seafood Tom Yum, egg rolls, and fish sauce wings. Everything was amazing. The meatballs in the Pho, the fish sauce flavor wings and the in-house spicy sauce were especially delicious.

We found this place by accident. And what a happy accident! The food was delicious. We had a shrimp noodle bowl and a shrimp, scallop Tom Yum soup. The flavors were fantastic.
The owner was friendly and very knowledgeable. She answered our questions patiently and checked to see if we were enjoying our food.
I need to eat gluten free. She was able to direct me to safe foods.

Was passing through late and decided to try. The owner was on his way out with his wife and family but told us if we got something to go he would make it. He whipped up our food in less than 15 minutes. The food was great and huge portions. Enough to eat 2 meals. Lots of protein when you get the hibachi plate. I plan on going again. Worth the money and quick service. Plus the food is very satisfying.

The food is great! Will definitely be back for a good pho. However, the ambiance, ventilation and bathrooms need to be improved! The owner/server is also nice! I will still recommend trying their food.

Had a wonderful lunch today at one of our favorite restaurants. The shrimp udon was fresh and delicious and my husband had the shrimp bowl and it too tasted amazing. The owners are very friendly and they serve amazing food. Give them some love by stopping in and trying their food. You won’t be disappointed.

Another one of those hidden gems in the Golden Triangle! Michael is authentic and personable in his unique presentation of Asian food. The portions are huge and the premises are immaculate. The grilled pork chop draped over both sides the full size plate! Definitely the best value and best tasting Asian food in the area.
