Food and customer service was good. I love the empanadas from there. I was in shock when I saw they had the small colombiana bottles.

We were really excited to try a Colombian restaurant that is close by, we ordered empanadas, arepa de choclo, chorizo, and perro sencillo.

the empanadas were mainly dough (masa) and not tasty, and really greasy.
The ají (spicy sauce) had a lot of vinegar.
The arepa de choclo was good.
We tried the a hot dog or perro caliente sencillo but the sausage was really small and it was served on French rolls bread instead of hot dog bun.
The chorizo was good but really cold.
We ordered to go and the service was good and the food took like 20 min.
Kind of expensive to be honest for what you get, hopefully they improve the recipes.

I was exited to try a restaurant close to home. As a traditional plate the bandeja paisa I have try all the colombian restaurants in chicago all have good stuff and bad stuff when it comes to a bandeja paisa. Portion wise I feel it was a bit poor when it came to the steak. I had a strip of steak that measure about 1.5 inches by 3.5 Inches basically a taste. Chorizo was a full traditional size, morcilla traditional size. The chicharron seam different but the flavor was all it matter and it was good. My only issue was with the steak I would rather pay a bit more and have a good portion then cut the steak short. I order empanadas and it was questionable why they didn’t have or couldn’t make any. Either someone makes them fresh in the morning till they are out or they freeze them for the week but they said they couldn’t serve beef only chicken not a big Fan of chicken empanadas but I gave it a try wouldn’t order them again they seam like they been seating under the heater for way too long so it was dry and not much chicken.

My recommendation to the owner would be its best to charge a bit more and serve the whole experience then be a bit short and make it seam like your over paying. When you pay high and get the experience people’s minds would think it was pricy but the experience was great and well worth it. Best of luck on your journey and wishing you guys the best. Still have to come and try other dishes and see if I find the start of the restaurant this time it wasn’t all their.

Usually we go for tacos when we are in Cicero but we heard of this new restaurant and was surprised it’s Colombian. We had the special hamburger and the bandeja paisa and both were DELICIOUS. Meat was very well seasoned. We are coming back!

Mi Tierra Colombiana – Cicero’s New Culinary Gem

In the immediate area of Laramie and 16th Street, dining options are surprisingly limited—especially when it comes to authentic, culturally rich cuisine. That’s why Mi Tierra Colombiana, open just a little over a month, already feels like such a welcome and much-needed addition to the neighborhood. Despite being new, it’s operating with the confidence and quality of a well-established favorite.

I ordered the Bandeja Paisa, and it was truly exceptional. Every component tasted thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The steak was tender and boldly seasoned, the beans brought that comforting, slow-cooked richness unique to true Colombian kitchens, and the pork belly had that perfect contrast of crispy edges and melt-in-your-mouth softness. The plantain added a gentle caramelized sweetness that balanced the savory elements beautifully, while the chorizo contributed a smoky, robust depth that anchored the plate. The egg—perfectly fried yet still deliciously runny—paired with the creamy avocado created a satisfying, cohesive finish to every bite. Each ingredient stood out on its own, yet everything worked together in warm, flavorful harmony.

A special shoutout to Johana, my server, who elevated the entire experience. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and quick, offering the kind of efficient, friendly service that has often been inconsistent at other Colombian eateries I’ve visited. Johana completely broke that pattern, bringing genuine hospitality that made the meal even more enjoyable.

For a restaurant that’s only been open a little over a month, Mi Tierra Colombiana is already showing all the signs of long-term success. I’m truly looking forward to returning and watching this new Cicero gem continue to thrive.

Overall never going back plus my stomach started to hurt.

Always looking for new places to try. I stop by with a friend. We had bandeja paisa, arepa, and papa rellena and manzana postobon. Food was great and to my liking I enjoyed it. There was a delay in service and food served but over all the food was great and made fresh. Their customer service needs work and I did mention to host/server. Music was great loud but good and you are able to talk. We were told they dont have long that they opened. I hope they improve their customer service. I do plan to return. Thank you.

Service was kind of bad . The cooks spoke ill of me and my friend. Im colombian and i know they were calling me gay in colombian slang.

The food i wanted they had none of them . Which is fine because there was no-one so its understandable i guess.

The food was warmed up and not freah at all.

Coffee tasted burnt as if it was sitting there for a few hrs on the warmer . Hence the burnt taste.

And last but not least. The waitress kind of refused to let me sign , when i chose to tap to pay. She said ” oh its okay you dont have to sign” which is a red flag for me always.

She held the charge machine in her hands and wouldnt let me handle it so i could choose my own tip option. She said “dont worry , all that screen is just the tip part screen” And then i responded “mmm no i want to do it. I can do the tip part”

She looked upset because i chose to do it myself . Heads up people . Never let any server choose their own tip or even say dont worry i can do it for you. Because theres a tab that says customize tip which they can put whatever they want and then you have to deal with it. Never trust that!

We were here about a week ago. The food was delicious, the staff was very attentive, and the atmosphere was very festive.
We ordered the pataburger and coconut rice with fried fish. We also tried a stuffed potato and a carimañola. Everything was well seasoned and the portions were generous.

So we got sat on my table, was dirty, it took 10 minutes to clean, there was 1 server at the bar table that is was looking my table and didn’t do anything, at this point is already 20 minutes nobody cleaned that table, no menus but the server keeps flirting with a customer at the bar area, finally another server came to greet the table and take the order, It’s been already 25 minutes
I don’t recommend to anyone to go to this place I think if you are from Colombia they you will be discriminated. Please I hope the owner take this as something constructive.
